I just wandered :
1)If hired for a position, such as first class host or other CS role, how long would be considered long enough in the role, before applying for other positions within the same TOC, and

2)How likely are they to consider application for TM or Conductor, from a Host or CSA?

I have an assessment on the 20th for TM and have been invited to interview also for first class host. (also have another application pending for senior conductor)

I am wandering whether to take the first class host interview or not. As it's not safety critical, I thought it may be a good back up if I fail the TM tests, but longer term, I would not want to mess up my chances of TM or Conductor role by doing so?

Also the host interview is the day after the TM assessment day. Are you allowed to be in two talent pools at once? (in case of a miracle and being offered a spot in both?)
Not sure what's best.

The best advice I would give is contact the HR people. Technically speaking I cannot see any issue in having two applications ongoing at the same time with the same TOC. The problem comes when you accept the offer of one job and there is still a live application for the other.

You’ll have a minimum 6 months once you start where you will not be able to apply for any internal positions, also any TM/Conducter vacancies you will go through the same process as if your were external, only advantage is if you pass stage 1 tests then most are valid for 2 years so won’t have to take them again. It’s a difficult one to try and choose I know, I would just keep your options open, be aware though any failures in the TM process will exclude you from Conducter for 6 months, you may also find any new position is restricted from you for 6 months as the system will see your already doing the TM position which is essentially the same as process is concerned.

Thanks both. Not sure what to do to be honest. I REALLY want to get into the railways, even if it means starting as host, however I have no idea what I would do it offered host role whilst still waiting for result of TM assessment. Part of me thinks to cancel host interview, but I know if I fail the TM assessment (and so also be excluded from conductor role) I will regret having cancelled as at least it would be a way in.
Don't suppose anyone has a crystal ball do they? -_-

I would go for the host interview, your stage 1 results are normally emailed within a few days of completion so you probably will know these results before your interview ones.

Thanks. The TM assessment is a full day - tests/group exercise in the morning and final interview in afternoon if you get that far. Host assessment is the day after lol.
I think I will go for both and just hope I hear about TM before hearing result of Host role
Thanks

The good news for the TM one if it’s all happening in one day then they are looking to fill those positions quickly, mind took nearly a year from initial application to likely start date in Feb next year for me.
