Travelling from Leeds to Shipley on the 18.41 Leeds to Bradford Forster Square, I get off at Shipley and there’s an announcement made that the later services to Bradford Forster Square are cancelled or delayed “due to damage to the overhead electric wires”.

Where were the issues? I assume somewhere on the Ilkley line and the Bradford trains that were cancelled were the ones due from Ilkley?

Been a bit of a rough day for the Airedale and Wharfedale lines. Aside from the overhead line issues there was an ill passenger at Crossflatt and a trespass incident at Leeds

Its been a rough day everywhere between Manchester Leeds and Sheffield!

It started with the tree down at Guiseley, then flooding stopping all Bradford to Manchester services, flooding stopping Chester services, ballast washed away at Kiveton Park, flooding at Meadowhall and to top it trespassers in Leeds which closed the station.

I was lucky and was on what was one of the last services which made it into Leeds. No idea if my fellow traveller found their way back to Wigan.

The tree was down at Springs Junction so no direct Leeds to Ilkley trains could run.

Flooding at Walsden, as usual, meant trains from Leeds ran as far as Hebden Bridge.

Flooding at Rotherham Central meant the Leeds - Sheffield via Dearne couldn’t run.

And 2 numpties in Leeds who were old enough to know better decided to have a wander of the east end of Leeds station, delaying anything to/from the east. The station wasn’t closed, as services could still depart westbound.
