If they do try to change it they'll need to remember to change https://lothiancountry.co.uk/fares-tickets/ as it's firmly in the city west zone on their own map (as of time of post anyway!)

Honestly it does seem like an error because it would make no sense to charge Kirkliston residents twice as much as Queensferry residents to travel into the city, plus the Ridacard being invalid out there would upset local commuters.

Ridacards can be used on the 63 route, so might be rather strange if they weren't accepted on the X38 in Kirkliston. It's confusing enough that journeys between Newbridge and Gogarburn are subject to an extra £1 on Lothian Country services compared to the (council subsidised) 63 or 20. Easily solved for regular travellers who can invest in a Ridacard or One-Ticket.
I'm sure we'll find out soon.

...Wonder if they will finally reveal the fares at this then?.....

Would be a brave move if they went and still said that they have no word on the official fares leaving the residents baffled

And they are keen, they are going to be out from 0630!

6:30 on a Tuesday morning, I wonder who the demographic are for the time? commuters looking to catch a bus into town at peak time?

Weird flex but okay

There seems to be single deck vehicle on Lothian Country's service 43 this morning - think it's bus number 118. Might be due to a shortage of regular buses at the depot.
They'll probably get away with it on a Saturday morning, but rather a poor show. Don't think I've seen this since Stagecoach pulled out.

Poor show? would you rather they didn't put any bus on the service?

Obviously I don't know how much thought went into the choice of vehicle but loading risks should be a consideration. According to the London Transport website bus number 118 seems to have been replaced with a double decker quite promptly this afternoon, so it wouldn't have been a problem today.
The risk is that once a single deck bus fills up (inevitable on weekdays at peak times and if there's disruption on the 41), it's just the same as no bus at all for the passengers unable to board. Therefore it isn't a decision that should be taken lightly.
Don't want to read too much into a single event but it gives an impression there's a shortage of vehicles at Livingston if no larger buses could be sourced. In the past they'd just have swapped in a red bus.

The fact that they replaced it with a double-decker, later on, suggests a good show. Saying it's a poor show putting a single-decker instead of a double-decker is just silly. Perhaps the double-decker was receiving maintenance at the depot hence why they put the single-decker out instead of nothing at all. Sometimes operators have to put out whatever is available at short notice and might not have time to run around looking for an available "red bus".

Ye but it could have been put on 43 and the single used for driver training

Unless of course, they were using the double-decker specifically to train drivers on how to handle a double-decker? Mountains out of molehills spring to mind here...

.....there is always a percentage of vechiles which are unavailable due to routine maintenance/inspection (iirc a bus/PSV must have a routine inspection after it clocks a certain mileage)

When I passed Longstone today, there was 2 LC deckers parked up, presumably for maintenance/inspection...

So I don't see there being a massive issue with a single on the 43 on a Saturday morning.... different if it was Monday rush hour....
