Are there any timetable experts/enthusiasts on here who can tell (a) how many trains there actually are indicated in the timetable (b) where they go. I'm getting lost.

Ah, I can see the problem, using Essendine as the focal point of the timetable, rather than the start point of most of the trains, on what is an essentially a timetable with 3 routes as I believe the Bourne and Stamford branches were always worked separately.

I think it's showing:
4 Up Main Line Services to Kings Cross
4 Down Main Line Services from Kings Cross
6 return services on the Stamford branch
6 return services on the Bourne branch

1, 2.and 1,2,3 at the top of columns may confuse some. I assume that means some trains have first, second and third class but other only have first and second.

Otherwise it shows 3 connecting routes to Essendine as above.

This is the timetable for the Essendine to Bourne branch, as it says, with 5 trains daily plus one Mondays only. The train doesn't leave the branch.

The rest, in the inset columns, are relevant connecting services at Essendine. There may, or may not, have been other trains on the main line and Stamford branch.
