Hello,

I currently travel from Maidstone East to London (either Blackfriars or Victoria) using a Gold Card annual ticket. From next year my work is relocating to East London. I understand that the best route is Maidstone West to Stratford International.
Is it possible to commute on this route without using HS1 as this would be too expensive I think? I'd need to be getting there around 0830 & leaving Stratford around 1800 ish
I've had a look but it's not clear (to me at least).
I'd be grateful for any recommendations or advice.

Thanks

You need a HS1 ticket to use the section between Gravesend and Stratford International.

You could instead travel Maidstone West - Strood - Woolwich Arsenal and then the DLR to Stratford Intl, but it would take longer.

Thanks. I found (actually my wife found) today that when we first looked at this journey, the timetable had HS1 & ordinary trains, now it's all HS1.
A season ticket from Maidstone to Stratford on HS1 is a bit cheaper than my current season ticket but my current ticket gives me London Terminals, plus tube and bus travel in Zones 1-6. Am I right in thinking that an HS1 ticket will only allow me to go between Maidstone & Stratford rather than going to London terminals which would be more flexible?
Thanks Again

If it is issued to Stratford International from Maidstone Stations (which is East or West), then it is valid for Maidstone East - London Terminals - Stratford International.

Aha! I wondered about that - currently I can use my card to go to any London station. I didn't think that would be the case with Stratford International as I didn't think it was a terminal. It's reassuring to hear that I can travel into any London terminal from either Maidstone station, I thought I'd be restricted to the single journey.
