One of the three car 158’s, 158758 has been in use on the Hull to Bridlington service today. I travelled on the 16.56 from Hull as far as Beverley on it. Quite a change to see such a unit in use on that line instead of the York to Blackpool service. A first I wonder? And, as previously reported, it retains the original seats and moquette.

At a guess they have just taken the original 243 number and added on the 17x323s and 8x769s. Not including the ex-WMT 17x323s because they will be refurbished at WMT before cascade.

Of course, this double counts the refurbs carried out on the 319/4s before they they were sent for conversion to 769s!
Won't the WMT 323s have to be refurbished into Northern livery and have their seats recovered

this is interesting where has the other 25 come from?

https://twitter.com/northernassist/status/1193906220886831105

78 Class 150s
7 Class 155s
47 Class 156s
53 Class 158s
16 Class 170s
17 Class 323s
16 Class 333s makes 234 units (current number of units in Northerns fleet)

Then add
5 Class 150s from GWR
17 Class 323s from WMT
8 Class 769s (?) and that makes 264
So I count 4 units missing, which will most likely be Sprinter or 170 cascades (unless the 769s don't enter service)

Livery and seat covers is just rebranding, not refurbishment. The tweet specifically says "...we are also refurbishing....".
Either way I count the change from the orange WMT livery and interior to the Northern livery and interior as a refurb

But repainting a unit and swapping the seat covers after a transfer isn't a refurbishment, it's a rebrand.

243 units been refurbished add the 17 northern 323s and the 8 769s, that makes up the number to 268
At the moment I count the 268 units as the following
78 Class 150s
7 Class 155s
47 Class 156s
53 Class 158s
16 Class 170s
17 Class 323s
16 Class 333s which makes 234

Then adding on the 5 Class 150s due to move over to Northern in 2020 aswell as the the 769s which make 247 Units
And if the '170 equivalents' are counted then I get 265 Units so Im missing 3 units to make 268
Im not counting the 319s since they're leaving unless Northern decide to keep some of them

So what do you count as the 268 units? And can you please be specfic in terms of how many units of each Class (I.E 16 Class 333s or 78 Class 150s) otherwise I won't understand what you mean by 243 units being refurbished

Quite - I very much doubt that Northern's twitter team attempted the complex arithmetic of @Harvey B 's calculation. Especially since the tweet included a graphic with the original 243 number. Too much of a coincidence that 243+17+8=268!

Fathoming out the current state of Northerns fleet PRM mods and interior refresh quite a challenge as to units having various levels of treatment.
My take being:-
1. Bathroom sized toilet, PIS system and PRM mods. No CET tank.
2. As above but with CET tank.
3. Same but exterior repaint in new livery.
4. As above with interior redecorated.
5. As above with new sets covers.
6. As above with new seats
7. As above with wifi phone charging.
8. Drivers cabs refurb with CCTV etc.
Just my thoughts. Must be a nightmare to keep track of.

I was on 150203 this morning (0850 Wigan Wallgate to Man Picc), and either the engine kept cutting out in one half (that I was sat in), or it's been fitted with some sort of stop/start or fuel saving thing.
Can anyone offer any thoughts?
