The reason the coaches and PCs are both moving to EMR I expect is down to PC conpatibility. Although any PC can haul/propel and MU with any HST mk3 no problem its the compatibility of TOC specific modifications that may well be the problem. I suspect in this case driver guard communications which is often interlinked with PIS systems and there is a known issue with EMR PCs not being compatible with the PIS/Comms systems used on LNER and XC stock, hence why EMR PCs are often despatched with flags and whistles when covering for LNER or XC PCs. It may not be worth the cost of upgrading the PCs for the short period of time they will be used and simply easier to move the stock over complete.

Aberdeen switches to Azuma 25th November last I heard
I was looking at the 10:00 KGX to ABD out of curiosity after making a booking on a Leeds service that happens to be on the same diagram as the Stirling service which is an Azuma, completely forgot that a later departure was going to convert before

Today, I travelled on 40751 on EMR; the next coach was 41071 so I think that this is reformed NL08, victim of the Corby landslide, and I think that 40751 is the LNER TFKB that has been in the set since it returned after repair, but I'm not sure.
40751 used to be in NL65 which I realise isn't used much but has this set been disbanded or is the spare LNER TFKB, 40805 now in it?
It's also interesting that posts on an MML thread suggest that the EMR power cars may be incompatible with LNER trailers, but self-evidently 40751 is.
There's a notice in the buffet for staff regarding a different method of carrying out 'HHC' which may be a difference (if only I knew what HHC was!).

It's the spare ex VTEC buffet, which has been operating on the MML for a few years now
Btw it can't be NL08, as that is down as no allocation at NL, if you know the powercars then I can tell you the set number

That was quick - thanks!
I was on the 12.50 STP - SHF, 43047 and (I think) 43043.
By the way, do you know where LNER 40805 is?

Would have been 43044, it's on NL07.
The coaching sets get chopped and changed around, just because a coach was on NL08 a few months ago, doesn't mean it'll stick to that set.
40805, is probably still with NL65 wherever that is.
Note that NL65 was leased directly to LNER and had nothing to do with EMT/EMR, so it's very unlikely to be in an EMR HST set.

on an unrelated note, I saw the other day that 43274 'spirit of sunderland' has gained BTP 'see it say it sort it' vinyls just next to the corridor connection. Any ideas why?

Unless it’s a very recent change, Looking at Flickr, thankfully 274 hasn’t gained the curse of ‘that tag line’. It actually reads “See It, Do It, Sunderland”. All part of the Spirit of Sunderland advertising livery. It looks like it was applied sometime during the Virgin era, so is probably part of the vinyl livery.

ah My bad, I have seen the unit many times (always out of place when used on the highland chieftain, Spirit of Sutherland would be more appropriate!) Don't recall seeing that vinyl since before the summer, or is it only on one side (the left?)

It’s amazing what you miss! It took me a while to see the Cuneo style mouse on 43185 last year!

Looking through Flickr, it looks as if it’s always been there on both sides.

More thanks for that.
I was relying in the Platform 5 2019 Coaching Stock booklet (duff gen, obviously) which showed 40751 in NL65 and 40805 as spare, and I didn't know quite what the situation was, now that NL65 isn't much used yet.
MML HST sets used to be fairly stable when I commuted (in the last century...) , but I've noticed that each time I travel on one of the ex Grand Central sets it's a complete re-shuffle from the previous time; although perhaps that's to equalise the mileage with there being spare cars.,

Just seen a photo of 43238 in a red livery without its NRM vinels, just wondering if anyone knows the reason behind this? Thanks!

Does anyone also know about coaching stock transfer to EMR? Which coaching stock sets are being transferred and will the full set (9 coaches) be transferred?

According to the Focus Transport site, 9 ex-LNER sets will be replacing 12 EMR sets.

The 9 will be a mixture of 9car and 8car sets. Will there be any platform length issues if the 9car sets remain as such?

Also, how can they possibly be ready for EMR service in the short time left before 2020?

Looks like 43300 has run it's final service...

Has been involved in a collision with 800109 at Marsh Lane, Leeds.

Severe damage to the front of 43300 looking at the photos on Facebook, with 3 coaches of the azuma off the rails.

Hitachi seem to be doing well this autumn, as another LNER Power Car could now be set for an early retirement. 800109 has managed to collide cab to cab with 43300 this evening in Neville Hill. The power car cab has sustained some damage, 3 coaches of the 800 are off the rails.

(for those not aware, The EC HST Fleet are maintained now by Hitachi as part of the EC contract. While it is unfortunate that this has happened, 2 collisions within 3 weeks isn’t great, 43296 ran around with half its face off last week, and it has been noticeable that the standard of maintenance on the EC fleet has dropped off considerably of late).

Not forgetting 43313's collision with an 08 at Bounds Green...
Perhaps EMR might be better off sticking with their VP185 powercars instead??

Please see the dedicated thread to discuss the collision near Neville Hill between 800109 and 43300. The thread can be found here.

Does anyone know what the arrangement will be for the switchover of the Highland Chieftain?

First Azuma is down as 9th Dec which is a Monday - so does that mean there will be an HST southbound and Azuma northbound on that day... or will the last HSTs be on the Sunday 8th, in both directions?

43300 will probably be the first power car to be withdrawn and taken to the scrapyard.
