Are there any booking offices that still dispense tickets in the 'old' format?
These are the ones that are in block capitals throughout.

Do you mean credit-card sized tickets with block capitals? York did on my recent visit there.

I'm thinking this?

Vs today.

Think every office is now the new style so far as I know. It will come out the old style on an excess though.

In my experience, the old style (based on the British Rail APTIS design) seems to be used by most, if not all, train operating companies for what are non-standard tickets. As mentioned by Geeves these include excess tickets, rangers and rovers, plusbus tickets etc. I know the OP asked specifically about booking offices, but for what its worth, the only operator that I know of that still has TVM's which issue all tickets in the old style is Virgin.

Most Fujitsu Star machines on South Western Railway still issue tickets in the old format. I've only seen new format tickets from Gillingham Dorset, Axminster and Honiton.

Recently, I received a ticket and its receipt from the same station - Longbridge - on different ticket stock. The receipt was on National Rail orange, yet the ticket was on WMPTE blue - the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive. The ticket was a rather obscure ranger that I only found by chance online.

If it was a Daytripper or nNetwork ticket then it has its own dedicated stock.

In addition to the OP's question, on a slightly related matter, is there an up to date list any where of the 16 character names that appear on APTIS style tickets? I know there's some older lists available but nothing up to date seems to be available.

Virgin station ticket machines (and I assume proper ticket offices) were still using the old format last month - I see no reason why they wouldn't still be.

The majority of the time, if you visit the ticket window at a Virgin Trains ticket office, your ticket will be on receipt roll. There are exceptions, especially for tickets which can't be issued on them e.g. Annual Season

Virgin tickets on a ticket roll is because they were waiting to see if they won the franchise before upgrades I believe.

They do this at Preston , really annoying if its a rover as they never work at barriers. Can you ask fora normal ticket?

AFAIAA all Star machines on SWR issue tickets in the old format, but the delayed rollout of a new TIS is now underway, and with that comes the new ticket format.

Having said that, I now hear that South Western are replacing their Fujitsu Star machines with Worldline @station (TOMTIS - Ticket Office Mobile Ticket Issuing System) that issue tickets in the new format.
