I'm going to get a list going I think :p Does anyone know why they're now going via stops at Tyseley in the first place...?
Might be barking up the wrong tree here but is it possible they're stopping at Tyseley for PRM modifications or maintenance, or possibly just as an overnight stop for some reason?

This is what has happened up until now:-

01/09 - 170207 direct Norwich to Canton
11/09 - 170270 direct Norwich to Canton
23/09 - 170272 direct Norwich to Canton
05/11 - 170273 Norwich to Tyseley and forward to Canton 12/11
11/11 - 170202 and 170204 Norwich to Tyseley.

I think this is correct and clears up all the questions.
Thanks for that, beat me to it ;)

I believe that the 170/2 subclass had already received minor alterations to achieve PRM compliance in Greater Anglia's hands

They are already PRM but could be other mods or maintenance as you say. Tyseley are well conversant with 170s as they maintain fleets of WMT and XC

On the pictures of the Norwich to Tyseley move 170204 has a non multi sticker in the front cab, if its lost that on the move onto Cardiff it would indicate at least some work being undertaken at Tyseley!

I am very dubious of 170203 being on Tyseley as it was photographed at Ipswich yesterday
I've received confirmation that 170203 is in fact still in service with Greater Anglia which matches up with what you're saying

Having heard about some of the issues with the first 3 delivered then I would assume that having spent a week a Tyseley it's to give the units an exam and rectification work, there's a long history of turbostars and Tyseley. As another thought, who's doing the moves? Some of the Vintage Trains drivers have experience with turbostars and being based at Tyseley............

I'm going to hazard a guess that the earlier ones which ran direct to Canton are now going to Tyseley for the rectification work prior to the later movements travelling via Tyseley.

That would make sense :)

170202 and 170204 I should think
Will it be those that are apparently continuing to Cardiff "next weekend"...? A planned date for units to move on after having work done, is that a thing...?

from the EMR 153s with WMT thread
that does make sense. according to national rail there was flooding today between Gloucester and lydney, lines have since reopened but there are 40 minute delays. there's also speed restrictions between Worcester (doesn't specify which station) and cheltenham spa.
if they're being held back for this reason then I would suggest they'll be on the move again tomorrow if all goes well.

I was under the impression that they're at Tyseley to have some work done on them before they go to Cardiff, and one of the three that went straight to Cardiff has actually gone to Tyseley for this reason, so there are four 170/2s there, that one and 170202, 170204 and 170206

They are at Tyseley for delaps due to shortage of space at Crown Point. 201 and 205 are the next to go next Sunday.

They are at Tyesley for work to be done and nothing to do with flooding
