Just to clarify, I presume 1108 Wigan to Blackpool means 1106, in which case it is the 1036 ex-Liverpool Lime Street. 1122 Wigan - Liverpool is 1121 and is on a diagram which does mainly Wigans - the furthest it strays is Warrington and Wilmslow.

1121 ex-Wigan is now booked 331/1 (4 car) and starts the day at Lime St and does the following

05:38 Lime St-St Helens Cen
06:08 St Helens Cen-Lime St
0703 Lime St-Warrington BQ
0910 Warrington BQ-Lime St

Then 10:15, 12:15, 14:15, 16:15, 18:13, 20:45 Lime Street to Wigan

And 11:21, 13:21, 15:21, 17:21, 19:21, 22:02 Wigan-Lime Street

Then 23:15 Lime Street to Preston shunts to the sidings for 5F00 05+04 Preston CS-Wigan the next day.

And 331105 reported on 2A96 1028 LIV-CRE via the airport.

Despite being on a 319 timing seems to be losing time according to RTT, but this may be because of something ahead of it from time to time.

Should then operate 2H47 1248 CRE-MAN via Stockport,
Then 2K38 1401 MAN- CRE via Stockport
Then 2F25 1516 CRE-LIV via the airport
unless something changes.

You're right, of course. I thought that, after 1921 ex-Wigan, it did 2028 Wilmslow, but I realise that it doesn't. As is often the case, platform numbers at Lime Street are a bit adrift on RTT, but they get corrected on the day.

2H47 set off 16l from crewe, probably ironing out the cogs before they settle into service.

2H42 07:48 Crewe to Manchester was a 331 today, I didn’t travel on it so can’t give my thoughts yet on the units.

Had a couple of rides on a 331 this week - They seem quite nice. Are the brakes going to get less noisy over time? They sure do make some right odd noises at times.

Currently on a 331 for the first time, running the first LIV-CRE service of the day. All nice and shiny (and obviously reminiscent of a 195). I'm already a fan of the seats/layout/table ratio of the 195 so I won't bore you all with repeating myself, so instead I'm going to mention what really stands out for me on a 331: the acceleration from standing is extremely impressive. It feels nice and urgent!

Now if only they could fix the problem of passengers waiting to board in the North West standing in front of doors, not to one side.

In post 1145 I said I couldn't comment, but in fact I now remember: I was waiting for the following Pendolino because I had a Virgin-only ticket from Wilmslow to Manchester, but when 2H42 pulled in I thought "I'm glad I'm not going to get on that train, it looks really busy". It looked cluttered with tables and rather full in a way that a 3-car 323 wouldn't have done, and for a short journey Wilmslow-Manchester the tables are probably unnecessary and make squeezing on and off a busy service harder. So it's nice to see new rolling stock, but my initial thought is that the tables are unnecessary for the stopping Manchester-Crewe service.

There is technically more room around the doors on a 331 than a 323 I believe. I was on a semi-busy one last night and it didn't seem too bad.

But these units are not just dedicated to stopping Manchester to Crewe services and the tables could be a useful addition to the somewhat longer service routes that these units will be used upon.

Had a ride on 331107 on Wednesday evening.
It seemed to be riding a bit better than others I’ve been on. Have they tweaked the settings?

Re. tables, I suspect these will be quite popular on Liverpool-Crewe as a lot of people work whilst on board with a laptop on their lap.

I thought the original plan was for all the 4 cars to work out of leeds until the paused platform zero at Leeds was finished so allowing pairs of 3 cars up the Aire valley.

Unless it is only temporary there are five 331/4 (331102/03/05/07/12) working out of Liverpool at present whilst 331111 was still at Edge Hill on Tuesday.

331111 and 331017 moved to Blackpool today... Ready for Monday's launch....
So with 331 111 that's all the 4 car 331s in use.
I believe 331 101, 104, 106, 108, 109, 110 are at Neville Hill with 102, 103, 105, 107, 111, 112 at Allerton (6 each).
Neville Hill will need 7 units to replace the 321s and 322s plus possibly for 333s out of service.

There is a *lot* more standing room on a 331 than a 323. The vestibules are positively capacious, as is the area near the loo. Additionally, the 2+2 seating, as opposed to 3+2 on the 323s, means the 331s have much more room for standing throughout the length of the train.
