all Azuma i see with 1333 and 1533 2x 5 car.
Will these be extensions of Leeds services to and from Harrogate? If so 5 carriages south of Leeds will be a capacity decrease compared to an HST or 91 service unless another five attach at Leeds?

they are extensions of Leeds services. But 10 car throughout. Both are 2x 5 car rather than 2 services with 5 cars just to clarify.

Yes, and this RTT query shows the repeating pattern of half hourly Leeds services from Kings Cross, of which one extends every two hours, the odd hour xx33 trains:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...19-12-17/0600-2000?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt
AIUI this is a transitional stage, eventually the Harrogate trains will be in addition to the 2 tph Leeds service.

Assume not splitting at Leeds isn’t happening because LNER have the spare Azuma 5 cars to play with until Harrogate becomes the additional Leeds service?
10 car will be overkill- but see the 17:15 dept from Leeds to Harrogate being well loaded with commuters

I put in a Freedom of Information request to LNER on What Do They Know on Thursday asking for the latest diagrams as the ones shown on the site were from the middle of May. Not only have they provided the current diagrams but have also uploaded separate PDF's showing the additional diagrams added weekly from 18th November.

In summary:
  • There are currently 20 diagrams in service made up of:
    • Eight 9-Car Bimode Diagrams
    • Eight 5-Car Electric Diagrams (made up of four pairs)
    • Four 5-Car Bimode Diagrams
The next diagram changes commence on 18th November and will occur weekly from then. Only the weekday diagrams were provided owing to the engineering work taking place at weekends and therefore diagrams are only finalised shortly beforehand.
  • 18th November - Diagrams 21 and 22 are introduced which sees two 9-Car Electric diagrams added.
  • 25th November - Diagrams 23 and 24 are introduced which sees two 9-Car Electric diagrams added.
  • 2nd December - Diagrams 25, 26 and 27 are introduced which sees two 9-Car Electric diagrams added and one 9-car Bimode diagram added.
  • 9th December - Diagrams 28, 29 and 30 are introduced which sees two 9-Car Electric diagrams added and one 9-car Bimode diagram added.
The 9-car electric diagrams seem to be largely replacing what the 9-car bimode trains are working currently (London to Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow) freeing up the Bimodes for non-electrified routes, in turn allowing the HST's to be withdrawn. By 9th December, only three HST diagrams will remain.

The following week (15th December), the Harrogate services start according to a news article on LNER's website. I don't have any diagrams for those yet but I wouldn't be surprised if that will see the removal of the final 3 HST diagrams.

If you want to see the full diagrams, please find my FOI request and the attachments provided here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/request_for_current_azuma_225_an#incoming-1461035

This evenings Kings Cross - Bradford is an Azuma which has replaced a 'heritage electric train' according to LNER.
The Mk4's are now clearly considered as a thing of the past!

Hello,

Could someone please tell me where I can find the remaining HST diagrams? Is it on this thread or a different one because I can’t seem to find it?

Thanks, Pudsey bear

What is the logic this morning of sending a 5 coach Azuma to Leeds at 0903 from KX and a 9 coach Azuma to York at 0906?
Surely there are more passengers from West Yorkshire than York.
Both return back to KX at a similar time

Alternatives. If the 0903 is full passengers for Peterborough and Doncaster can use the 0906. But if they short form the 0906 then Grantham, Newark and Retford passengers suffer.

Same on the returns. Doncaster and Peterborough have better alternatives.

I would bet the York stopper has more passengers normally as well because of the intermediate stops.

I suspect we had the same same argument when a set was cancelled.

The 0903 is booked a 10-car, but one of the units had failed. The 0906 is booked a HST, which had failed.

Keeping the 9-car on the 0906 avoids disrupting reservations too badly on both services (and both back workings) as half the 0903 will have their booked seats in the 5 that were available.

Also, I’d expect the 0906 to be the busier of the two services, and likewise the 1202 from York.

Is it this evening the Stirling service becomes a azuma? Was this mornings Stirling service a azuma or a HST?

Are the first two nine car Class 801's in service? The diagrams LNER provided under an FOI suggested they would be on Monday 18th Novemeber, and two HST sets were to be withdrawn. I haven't seen any tweets about the start of 9 car Class 801 service from LNER, although I have been at work and haven't seen every tweet.

I wondered whether the incident at Neville Hill last week has caused this plan to be delayed?

I'm looking forward to my first trips on an Azuma in a few weeks' time. 1313 BWK-KGX on 21st December and 1400 KGX-BWK on 30th December.

Past practice has been for the diagram to start as an HST on changeover day then swap to an Azuma in London so I'd imagine that it will be a HST on Monday morning for the last time then go out of service at Kings Cross.
