I found an app called Raildar some time ago, looks quite good, not 100% accurate but shows movements of trains in (what appears) realtime. There is an option to upgrade to a paid app for more features but the upgrade has been not available whilst ever I have seen the app. Does anyone know more about it and if it will be updated. Or alternatively is there a better app/website that shows rail movements in realtime.
Thanks and all the best everyone

I haven't checked out the app yet but I'm looking at the website now. Looks good.

I have seen similar for aircraft, and I remember that too had a paid for option.

Hi Blinkbonny, the website is far better than the app and seems a lot more accurate. At the moment I am staying near Manchester Victoria and can actually see the trains leaving the station and they will be on the raildar map on the website but not on the app. Just wondered if there were any alternatives out there.
Thanks for your reply

It's handy for searching for any delay repay due by month.

Needs some work - it has just shown two trains colliding in Platform 13 at Leeds!

Aren't some (or all?) of the Leeds platforms split into two so that two trains (coming from/going in separate directions) can use the platform at once?

Indeed they are, but the raildar graphic showed one unit hitting another and then emerging from the other side.

It does better than that. I noticed a passenger service at Wigan North Western change platforms between arriving and departing with the departure then having to go straight through another train. There also seems to be a problem with matching signalling berths to map locations with the precision required as trains sometimes appear to overshoot stations when stopping. But it's still an interesting site.
