Just looking for some advice on FIP fares in Switzerland. I see in the RST advice, it's possible to buy tickets for SBB online or at ticket machines by applying the Half-Fare travelcard rate as it's equatable to the FIP discount, provided the ticket only uses SBB or other FIP participating operators.

I'm looking at booking a couple of journeys ahead by doing this but wanted to be sure:
  1. Is this discount applicable to the Supersaver tickets?
  2. On Point-to-Point tickets, am I right in thinking these permit a break of journey? Presumably these are valid with the FIP Half-Fare travelcard workaround too?
  3. Is the Saver Day Pass also applicable for FIP discount?
As usual, anything RST is a bit of a minefield so any help would be greatly appreciated!

is this discount applicable to the Supersaver tickets?

I doubt it - I was always under the impression that the FIP discount is only applicable to the "ordinary" fare. You could e-mail SBB and ask them though.

I don't really know - once again I would e-mail SBB and ask them.

Is the Saver Day Pass also applicable for FIP discount?

As per the Supersaver I suspect not.

Mag_seven has it already. The answers to the questions are No, Yes, No.
Similarly no FIP discounts are available for Railaway special offers offering '1/2' reductions.
The ability to buy FIP fares from ticket machines is a major advantage of travelling in CH! (Try doing something similar from the ticket machines in France..!)

Thanks to both of you for replying, much appreciated.

On the No, Yes, No, do you mean that the Point-to-Point tickets are both the standard priv-available fares and that break of journey is permitted? Cheers.

Got the info via Twitter via DM. They replied with the following:
The FIP allows you to buy tickets at a reduced price (half-fare) in Switzerland. Therefore, you can also buy tickets online. Exception: Supersaver offers and trips that are not mentioned on the radius of validity of the FIP. Greetings
