Evening all,

This won't come as a surprise to some. I tried to purchase a Super Off-Peak Day Return from Leagrave to Cricklewood tonight for travel tomorrow at Luton Airport Parkway ticket machine with Disabled Persons Railcard. The cheapest ticket the machine offered for travel tomorrow is the Off-Peak Day Return. I bought my ticket from the ticket office instead. Another example of GTR overcharging the unwary...

Quite common, trick is to buy online (from whoever) and collect from the local machine.

GTR are probably one of the worse TOCs when it comes to availability and consistency of their fares. For example, they'll promote their "Key" Smartcard to customers, but certain (cheaper) fares are not offered as Smartcard "fulfilment" due to the way they have it set up. So the punter who selects a fare at the machine without presenting a Smartcard will get a fare for £8.10, whereas the person who goes in with a Smartcard will see the same ticket for £11.45, as the Super-off peak was not offered in this circumstance.

Try next time setting the time off travel. Sometimes it then allows you to add your rail card on.

Also with the key card it is mainly used by people who travel during peak hours. Emails have been sent to try and get the super off peak correct ticket price applied
