Is there any ticketing easement / acceptance allowing travel via and/or break of journey at Llandudno on an off peak return Manchester Stations to Bangor (Gwynedd) ticket?

Or would additional ticket(s) be required from Llandudno Junction to/from Llandudno?

No easements from what I can see, I suspect additional ticket would be need for the Junction - Llandudno

Getting as far as Deganwy and back is fine as it's only 1.25 miles from the Junction (so + 2.5 miles over shortest route.) So you should only need to buy a Deganwy-Llandudno ticket at most. ( It would probably be a good idea to take an itinerary showing this with you to avoid any arguments.*)

For certain times you should also be able to get itineraries all the way to Llandudno itself (just under 3 miles from the Junction) as long as you include at least one bus leg (there are a few timetabled buses) - so that the additional mileage by rail remains 3 miles. (Again, I'd take an itinerary.*)

* - I checked these on trainscanbecheaper.info

Note that you might fall foul of the restriction 8A blanket ban on BoJ.

Because of Deganwy, Llandudno would be a double-back.

There's no reason to allow it because there are no trains that call there that don't call at the Junction.

Even if Deganwy wasn't there, the OP would still be passing through the Junction twice.

However, we only need to worry about passing through the same station twice on the mapped part of the journey (in this case from Manchester Group to Llandudno Junction.) After that, it doesn't matter if you pass through the same station twice on the remainder of the journey.

Is it really worth the hassle with the ticketing?

Just buy a day return from Junction to Llandudno it’s only £3.20

Don’t bother with the bus as it costs £5+ for a day return unless you have a PlusBus ticket which costs £2.50.

Be warned that most of the buses at Junction station no longer serve the railway station turning circle, you need to board from the stop on the main road opposite the Old Station pub. Check bus times on the Conwy Council website as although there are plenty of buses there is no clock face frequency. The timetable display at the bus stop is 6 months out of date so be careful if connecting with trains.

When using the routeing guide maps, you can pass through any station more than once between the final routeing point and your destination so long as you use the shortest route between them. If you're using some other rules (such as if the Journey Planner at www.nationalrail.co.uk states that your route is valid), different rules apply.

Needless to say, travelling to Llandudno with a "Virgin Only" ticket might not be without incident.
