I have a Chiltern Railways smartcard and an Andriod phone with NFC. If I hold the smartcard next to the phone it suggests I can transfer the ticket from the smartcard onto the phone.
Presumably I could then use the phone to get through the ticket barriers and use my phone for revenue checks.
Does this work and would it be valid for a National Rail journey?

It does work for some TOCs / Apps at the moment e.g. SWR and GTR have both been mentioned on here recently. I tried the other day (SWR) and it failed at the point of ticket delivery to my smartcard, for a reason that SWR were apparently aware of and should be being fixed within the next week or so. Others have had success with cross TOC tickets/smartcards

I know you can definitely transfer the ticket TO a smartcard using an Android phone, I have done it with the Chiltern and GA apps. It is quite good actually! But not seen where you can use the phone itself for travel.

Yes. Strictly speaking that is loading a smart ticket. Transferring is moving a ticket (product) from one smartcard to another (e.g. because of damage to, or loss of, one smartcard).

As far as I know the only implementation of ITSO on Mobile so far is Swift on Mobile valid on the Midland Metro.
