Any idea on when a 745 might enter traffic?
003 & 005 are the nearest to being ready but December is all that I have heard as a possible. It may be with degraded working ie guards closing doors. Would make sense to start with the Ni90 services but will have to wait and see.

If GA planning is as good as some suggest, they will probably start with a service that arrives in London at the start of the morning peak!

@dk1 Thanks for taking the time to reply. A shame they are a bit delayed but I'm sure they will transform the main line in the same way as the 755s have the regional routes once they do start.
Are there particular issues do you know or just taking time to work through all the testing?

New 745 arrivals aren't stored at Crown Point.

Crown Point looking very interesting this morning with a 745 with quite a few yellow jackets with laptops sitting in the carriage behind the drivers cab, ready to go out on a test run. Also Victoria sidings points now connected to the mainline and well underway with track laying and OHLE.

11:30 Liverpool Street to Norwich today was a scruffy looking 8 BIN, the new trains are taking far to long getting into service, perhaps I will get a chance to use one on the way home from my retirement party.

I think you should check the Tory Party manifesto closely before making any bold claims about having a retirement.

In a few days time it will be nine months since the first 745 was delivered to Norwich. Yet none have yet entered revenue-earning service. How much longer?

Not aware of the exact problems causing the delay to introduction. Plans are afoot to extend leases on legacy stock and locos so something isn't right. Shame really as they are excellent units and the service is under such strain at the moment.

What will they do about the new PRM regulations re MK3 coaches in January?

Presumably there will be a derogation to allow their continued use.

Reported elsewhere dispensation to operate up to 7 sets until April next year.

Whilst it is frustrating that they haven’t yet entered service especially as the MkIII sets are now held together with ceiling wax and string, the regional DMU fleet all goes off lease by year end so it’s not surprising that the 755s have been given priority.

Ignore them probably. What else can you do?

Well not quite Roger Ford in this month's Modern Railways quotes that the maximum fine for breaching the regulations is £2,500, (which I assume is per vehicle), though as I mentioned above GA apparently have requested dispensations for the MkIII fleet, (not sure about the non-compliant EMU fleet which of course is much more numerous). GA have over 60% of the national non-compliant fleet.

Some investigation into the legislation states that the original law (the DDA 1995 and associated RVAR2010) were subsequently repealed by the Equalities Act 2010 and I can't find the power to enforce penalties being carried forward into the EA2010 for non-compliant rolling stock. Though this is about the time some of DfT's consumer protection responsibilites transferred to the ORR. On their website (ORR), claim that they are the enforcers of the RVAR2010 and PRM TSI legislation, though they state that they will only respond to breaches of the legislation as raised by passengers and others! Not sure where RF's £2,500 figure comes from?

Confused you should be!

Cheers. I'm only about a quarter into this months MR. Not got to 'Informed Sources' yet.

And others? Won't the first company to become compliant raise breaches in order to cost all its competitors money?

Yesterday a 745 arrived at Diss on test at the same time as yet another cancellation of the 16.30 to Norwich was announced. Like you I'm wondering why the every-lengthening delays?

Because there are several issues with the 745s that GA or Stadler would never admit to. Oh and plus the fact they won't fit through Hackney Downs fast line platforms means you will probably never see them on the Stansteds
