I notice that from tomorrow 30/11/19 the 11 will be diverted away from 'Bank' and LIVERPOOL STREET to terminate north of Bishopsgate at Shoreditch. The 11 has terminated and/or been connected to Liverpool Street as its Eastern terminus since 'forever'.... (to the exclusion of Dalston(D) garage workings), possibly way back to horse bus days.

According to the route's Wikipedia page it started in 1906 but didn't run to Liverpool Street until 1932.

They seem to be swapping the terminii for the 11 and the 344.

I had no idea this change was happening. What is the reason for this change?

I remember the days of big groups of tourists at the Liverpool Street bus station queuing for an 11 or a 23, as they both went through the touristy bits of London.

I believe the reason being given for the change is to provide a common stop with the 26 in Bishopsgate for passengers bound for Mansion House Station, St Paul's, Ludgate Circus and Aldwych, now routes in Central London are getting culled. On the other hand, passengers who used to have a choice of two buses from the Bus Station, the 11 and 23, to those places (plus Strand and Charing Cross Station) will henceforth have none. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

That is indeed the reason, for the 11 and 26 to have a common stop as they follow the same route as far as Aldwych.

The 11 will still show Liverpool Street as a destination, it will take over the 344's stand in Worship Street and the last/first passenger stops will be at Primrose Street, which is short of Shoreditch. The 344 will be rerouted into Liverpool Street Bus Station.
