As is 390118. 390104 and 112 however still have Virgin branding
I do hope 390157 remains in service in original VT livery until the final day of the franchise, would be rather fitting if it also worked the final Virgin Trains service.

Knowing Virgin I can see them keeping one back for the very last service (with a brass band on arrival or something) and debranding it overnight.

That wasn't a criticism (I'm not anti-VT, apart from some fares issues e.g. overpriced Anytimes and some of the Euston barrier staff issues I quite like them). Just what I think they will do :)
No, I know, I meant to agree with you. Sorry if I came across wrong - I've just worked 15 days on the bounce so I'm a little tired :)

I predict lots of freebies for anyone onboard and perhaps a commemorative certificate like at the start of the franchise (or was it start of Pendolino workings?). It would be amusing (to me) if the first Avanti train were to do the same thing.

Yeah, that seems likely. Another thing that might happen is everyone being upgraded to 1st, as it's a late evening train that is unlikely to be that busy.

Party planned on board the last 2035 Man-Eus...what they've forgotten is that it's Derby Day at Manchester with a late kick off plus Xmas markets so be absolutely rammed..Good luck with that one!

Birmingham New Street had it's concourse pillars plastered in "Hello, we are Avanti West Coast" advertising this morning.
All over Manchester Piccadilly as well. I have to say I think it looks really good. Modern, but vibrant, and very different colour choices to any other TOCs.

Gosh how sensitive and fragile can humans be in the 21st Century ??

Precisely as sensitive and fragile as they have always been, but with the modern benefit that we can now understand these fragilities and where necessary design around them. I'm not sure why anybody wouldn't think that's a good thing.

Surely it's not about being "sensitive" or "fragile" but about not triggering people who have epilepsy?
Which ain't gonna happen. Flashing between 5 Hz and 30 Hz is what can trigger seizures. Assuming that the 'flashes' are basically one per carriage, and taking Pendolino carriages as 25 m long to make the maths simpler, you'd need the train to be travelling at more than 250 mph to even come close to 5 Hz, and six times that to reach 30 Hz.

I don't know how else to say this - it's not a problem, please let's move on.

(Not aimed at anyone in particular, but let's not keep discussing something that's physically impossible... )

I presume the crop so it looks like a red 'V'irgin is very much intentional.
Or just telling all us passengers where to go.....

I'm kinds looking forward to it - I liked Virgin especially their very gay-friendly attitude; however the brand, trains and first class rooms had become "tired" and in need of an overhaul. I would like a link to the "Hi, I'm the toilet..." soundtrack if it's available. One last time, for old time's sakes....

Quite a number of TOCs have embraced Pride. TBH, I'm not really interested in virtue signalling of any kind provided they do things right at the basic level - i.e. that they do not discriminate nor tolerate discrimination to or from their staff or customers.

I've never understood this supporting pride stuff. If anything it's insulting as more fake let's be friends advertising when in actual fact they don't give a hoot.

That's what I've been betting on since LNER came into being ;)

Given recent form, I am pleasantly surprised they haven't gone for the band of a railway company that ceased to exist >70y ago. Nevertheless, "Avanti" is a pretty awful choice. I suppose we have better get used to it.

It's about making sure that LGBT+ passengers and staff feel safe. It sounds silly, but it does make a difference because it's an overt message that the company takes equality and discrimination seriously, which all too many don't. I worked with Virgin on their marketing around Pride last summer (2018) and it was a genuine pleasure to talk to a company who so obviously meant every word of what they were saying - because all too many don't.
