Been happening for several weeks now and again in the evening. It's the Cardiff driver training unit.

I saw it at Cardiff Central. I think it looks smarter with the white background than the light grey that TfW seem to be applying. I also note that the shade of grey there are using seems to vary slightly. (On a 153 parked at Canton, the grey looked too dark).

Does anyone have or know of any photo(s) or video(s) of 170202's move to Cardiff yesterday...? I can't find anything, and I wasn't able to be there or I would've taken video :p

Nope but it's definitely at Canton, was inside the shed when I got there about 16:00 yesterday.

Just been past Tyseley and noticed some of the ex-GA 170s parked up but couldn't see the numbers. Anyone happen to know which they were?

Thanks.

the ones that were there as of yesterday were 170201, 170203, 170204, 170205, 170208 and 170272, but one of those may have been picked up by the last two 153s on their way from Norwich to Landore on today's movement - if it has it's going to be dropped off at Canton. I'll let you know around 4pm!

Although more of an allocations and timetabling question, in regards to the 2 coach former Anglia Class 170s, are those intended to be specially dedicated for the Shrewsbury - Swansea via Llandovery (Heart of Wales) route?

They may intermix but too early to confirm anything yet

It was the only route specifically mentioned for them - and it's certainly true that a 2 car 170 would provide enough capacity on that route virtually all the time. The current HOWL units interwork with the Shrewsbury - Crewe local service at present and that seems to be the plan going forwards as well so the 2 cars aren't likely to just be on the HOWL.

This is all planned for several years down the line of course - they're not expected on the HOWL any time soon at present.
