Just because Angel are keeping one aside for preservation doesn’t mean one will be preserved: it needs someone to actually want to take one on. EMU preservation has not had a great record thus far, so I would be sceptical about the likelihood of this happening.

Okay. But I still think it’s possible but we don’t know what one is being saved yet we will have to wait and see first
We also don't know if that's still the case, as, the units are no longer leased from Angel.

Rail Magazine said:
It has also been confirmed that ownership of the Class 314s has transferred from Angel Trains to ScotRail for a nominal sum, as part of the compensation for the late delivery of the Inter7City High Speed Trains supplied by the rolling stock leasing company.

It may very well be the case that Abellio have a site in mind (or, indeed, someone bidding for a unit); but, it'd likely be a static display.

You’d think ScotRail would keep a 2 to form a 6 car set for the very common football specials out of GLC. The 314s are by far the most fit for purpose units for them

But it's another traction type with increasingly obsolete components that you have to try and maintain by sourcing parts and then have to also maintain driver knowledge on and the duties of which can be ably performed by other retained units such as the 318s and 320s.

Saw a red 314 which was full of graffiti when I passed Yoker depot. Does anyone know which unit this is?

Being a bit generous with Ayr! Some grotty portaloos out in the carpark 200yrds from the platforms is all there is nowadays!

Without going too off topic what the script with Ayr Station? Are they in the process of repairing it still?

It's a disaster! Been no movement really on anything for almost a year now. Structural survey was pretty grim and to make the building safe is estimated at £10million (note to refurbish it and bring back into use would be alot more ontop of the £10mil to make safe).

Staff are currently enduring another winter of having to work out of cramped portacabins and platform staff are out in all weathers with little to no shelter, as are passengers waiting on trains. Transport Scotland, Network Rail and ScotRail are basically sitting on their hands along with the council and failing passengers and staff! If it had been in Glasgow or Edinburgh it would have been sorted long ago!
