I wonder if this is going to be the norm on the Bentham line. If Northern are getting rid of the 153s too, the only other 3 car option I can think of is a 3 car 158 (which by the way I was on the 2007 Morecambe to Leeds,158755 on Saturday the 7th).
To me there is still a place for the 3 car 144s if they were given PRM treatment.

I can live with 3 car 158's on the route !

I find the 144s are adequate for a 2 hour journey. I will really really miss them. I'm 39 and started buying Metro Dayrovers when I was about 12,and my favourite out of the Pacer group was the 144s.
I've had many a good trip on them........even to Carlisle in the 90s!
I too will miss them, I only started trainspotting properly about 3 years ago and being from the south of England means I don't see them much. I personally think they should be allowed to keep them as long as they are coupled to a PRM compliant unit, handicapped users are a minority, there shouldn't be a service which is completely non PRM compliant but to see them go will be a shame.
As I am in my twenties, the last generation of trains that I count as "old" are ones from the 1980s with the BR Mk3 bodyshells. After these go, all trains will seem "new" to me, I'm sure many people feel the same now.

Your right Rob. As much as I will miss them,I need to take my enthusiast hat off and put my ordinary passenger hat on. The 158s will be a massive improvement on the Bentham line and I just hope the line goes from strength to strength.
Anyway back on topic, the Bradford to Huddersfield service would be suitable for the last remaining 144s, I think post December 15th it will be pretty much a self contained service.

I did see on the pacer Facebook group that the BDI to HUD service was going to be a mixture of 153 and 144. Hopefully it’s true.

Sheffield to Adwick maybe? Had one last night on the 18:05 (though earlier in the week it's been 142/150/158's).

Over the past week the 06:06 Doncaster-Sheffield has seen more 144's than 142's, as has the 06:20 Doncaster-Scunthorpe

Yes, it makes sense to have them on that route, as well as Huddersfield - Cass.

Morecambe line looks like a 150 today (yawn).

158 on the 0819 / 1418 ex Leeds diagram
144(3) on the 0720 / 1218 ex Leeds diagram
150 on the 1018 / 1726 ex Leeds diagram, but the latter only ran as far as Skipton

3-car 158 have become fairly frequent on the 1018 / 1726 turn. It's mostly been 153+150 in recent months, and prior to that 3-car 144

That's interesting. I wonder what I'll get back instead of the 150!
