Wasn't the Shepperton line supposed to go over to full 707 running come the timetable change, guessing this won't happen whilst it's only a shuttle to Kingston throughout the strikes. Will we see the Kingston rounders as 707s though, this would make sense to utilise their extra standing capacity, or will they still be out in full force but solely on the Windsor side.

One thing I will say is, whether it's a weekend or peak times, I really hope I don't pass Wimbledon depot on an 8car 455 whilst there are multiple 707s out in the sidings during the reduced timetable (tongue in cheek, I know there may be reasons)

What percentage of suburban drivers sign the 707s?

I believe all suburban depots except Guildford sign 707s.
Farnham and Basingstoke don't either, but both have some suburban work. Not sure how many contingency guards sign 707s either.

Seen reports of a 707015 being used to operate a Southampton service from Waterloo this evening. Believe it was the 1735 departure.

707018+707015 on 1W35 1735 London Waterloo to Southampton Central.

Booked 10 444, but trapped at Bournemouth due to broken rail near New Milton.

well that must have been a nice stretch for them down the SWML.. not often they get to go higher than 75mph is it?

Or paid for 1st Class, or planned to have a comfortable journey after the numbness wore off after 45 minutes
I would suggest a pair of 707s is rather better than no train, especially when the train you want is marooned somewhere down in Dorset.

I guess they used the 707s as the only spare 100mph stock, with the 458s regeared to 75mph

Do they really not have any 12-car 450s around given the service cuts currently implemented?

Very few at Clapham or Wimbledon, majority are being stored at outer depots. Also requires enough foresight to launch a spare driver to Clapham and bring a unit out, that in itself could take about 45 minutes.

So where did they find a spare pair of 707s at that time? Without a CAPE it most likely came from Wimbledon or Clapham, presumably.

Stock was swapped off of the 1752 Windsor. That was then formed by the stock booked for the 1735 Hounslow Rounder, which was cancelled.

I understand why they did it that way as the Hounslow rounder was a VSTP extra (with extra guard found presumably!). Given all the spare stock they should have, they ought to have a "hot spare" set at Waterloo throughout the day to mitigate late-running and failures. Should have enough to have a spare pair of 450s, 455s, 458s and 707s available!

Do they have the space to store a spare pair?

A 4-car 450 was previously booked to stable at Waterloo as spare on a Saturday, and 8-car 455 is from the new timetable so I should imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to find space to stable some spare stock at Waterloo during the strike.

Perhaps it's something that could be considered for a future strike, if it isn't possible to implement it now.

Interesting working this morning: 2C12 0611 Reading-Waterloo is formed of 707023/027, which is a first for an up Reading service that I know of (and first for a pair in passenger service on the Reading line?). Due to signalling problems it is running fast from Ascot to Waterloo, though.

Interesting to see if it does the next part of the diagram, 0750 Waterloo-Reading.

Pairs of 707 have very occasionally been used on Reading - Waterloo in the past as noted by Goldfish62 on Good Friday 2018 in #2249 of this thread. The following day to this post the 1916 Reading - Waterloo was 2*707 so possibly the same pair?

Saw a pair of 707s at Reading on Sunday afternoon. Is it normal for them to be there on the weekend?

Until the timetable change, 2C99 19:35 Waterloo-Reading was a 5 car 707. Came back empty.
