In TRUST looks like to start with, just one train a day ! 5P54 2033 to Victoria, and stables to form 5P07 the 0537 Victoria to Norwich.
Does it really say Norwich Victoria ( closed to passenger traffic in the early 1900's ) or Victoria Sidings. If ever Victoria was reopened it would allow a very quick getaway to Ipswich but no where else !!

From the good Burghers of Manea and Sheringham to the tune of All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth.
All I want for Christmas is my train set back , my train set back , my train set back etc.
With seasons greetings to all members of this excellent group which I thouroughly enjoy as a newly joined member.
Your song has seemingly had immediate success!
The good people of Manea and many others stand to benefit from the following:
The GA website:
Please be advised the following services have been reinstated 19/12/2019;
The 12:01 Ipswich to Peterborough service.
The 13:50 Peterborough to Ipswich service.
The 16:01 Ipswich to Peterborough service.
The 17:50 Peterborough to Ipswich service.

Of course it may be a 156 or the 170, but who knows? It's a TRAIN!

More issues with 755s tonight, nowhere near the Bittern Line (Ipswich, Norwich & Yarmouth, although minor), seems part of the problem is the 'scrubber' .......seems it is working 'in reverse' from what we have heard ! mod needed, and the sander applies under the wrong wheels (non driving)
Good grief.. surely not precise Swiss made engineering.. more Swiss engineering outsourced to third party countries.
Went down yesterday, via Norwich to get to Ipswich from ECML.
further progress at Victoria Sidings. RTT now shows booked services in and out of 'Norwich Victoria', clearly 'ghost' paths pending completion.
eg for 23rd Jan:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C01841/2020-01-23/detailed ......
States 'Pathed as Electric locomotive, trailing load 350 tonnes' so does that suggest Class 90's for the Victoria sidings then? Would have thought that would make sense security wise?

Some, to say the least, 'mixed' news there but fixes should get those services back up and running.

In better news, which I am sure that you already know, ECS ran in Q paths overnight Ipswich-Peterborough and return, seemingly including 'calls' at Manea, March and Whittlesea.
From RTT:
Out 5Q46 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/F31761/2019-12-18/detailed
Back 5Q47 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/F31765/2019-12-19/detailed

More Q paths VSTP for later today (if they run) vice cancelled passenger services:
Out 5Q74 dep IPS 10.01 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O72153/2019-12-19/detailed
Back 5Q75 dep PBO 11.50 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O72154/2019-12-19/detailed

Hope all goes to plan sans 'signalling problems' :)
Good news. Also hear that 755335 was in Sheringham platform ( seen from Tesco's = every little helps ) about 1845 last evening. Anything known?

Perhaps it is finally coming together.

Do other countries use scrubbers and sanders? Working in reverse or being fitted under the wrong wheels, if true, makes me wonder who fitted and who tested them!

The sanders are certainly visible under the second bogies from each end. Traction motors are on the end bogies. Does seem an odd design choice!

Isn't the second bogie the normal location for sanders because of that potential to affect track circuits? This Rail Engineer mentions 387s having sanders on axle 3 for example.

Which axles/bogies are driven on 387's? There seems little point in having a sander behind a driven axle unless it is mainly for braking.

I'd have thought braking was a much higher priority, it is for me!

That said, if they have sanders under the second bogie from each end do they use the front ones or the rear ones - those would be in front of driven axles - though that would compromise braking and the Rail Engineer article suggests axle 3 is standard (required?) practice.

The sanders are on axle 3 the same as the TCA.
Thanks. So the TCA operates on the 2 wheelsets of the first Jacobs bogie, axles 3/4?

I thought from reading before that both the leading and trailing wheelsets required TCAs. I don't have access to a copy of the relevant standard GM/RT2477. Anybody out there with a copy who could have a look could confirm that I have gone off on one again - please?
Cheers :)

Yes. TCA on both wheel sets 3-4 and 9-10.
Thanks again! Sorry more questions.
On the 755/3s its 3/4 and 7/8 (one set being the Jacobs bogie with the power module)?
Sanders likewise on axle 3/10 on the 755/4s or just 1 position per unit? And I assume can be activated for both power down and for braking?
Cheers!

The 3 car only have 10 wheel sets and the 4 car 12. It’s the same position on both types the first Jacobs bogie from each end.

No it doesn't. We hit pre-heat approaching Ely down road although even this doesn't have to be done.

Pre-heating, starting the engines & letting them idle or electric immersion heaters, (often used in N.American loco-hauled commuter trains, using a shore supply to keep engines & coaches warm during the overnight / weekend layovers.)?
