Leicester haven't played well for a while. They've been looking tired and unable to play their usual pressing game for 5-6 games. Don't have the depth of squad to rotate.
Yeah. I have a soft spot for Leicester. My youngest brother lives there (Although we are from Livetpool). They do look out of sorts. That said I was still surprised at the result.

Liverpool have just given Leicester a lesson. Typical Rodgers side, fell apart when asked tough questions.

13 points clear.

It seems weird to say this considering they’re sitting 2nd in the league having just lost to the team sitting top who have just been crowned the best club in the world last weekend

Leicester have been on a good run but have hit the buffers agaisnt 2 better sides. They stood a long way of liverpool last night which seems odd and not the way they have been playing recently. Maddison also played in an odd position different to where he has played recently.

Btw Alexander-Arnold. Decent prospect there!

I said when introduced VAR would ruin football and it is giving it a bloody good go! Some terrible decisions today.

Oh and if any nigely nerd comes on saying that the decsions were right they have no understanding of football and are part of the problem

Boston 2 Kettering 1. A good win after defeat at Kings Lynn. Nice to see some away fans at York Street for a change as well. 281 from Kettering, good effort. Onto Kings Lynn NYD.

What problem? If you don't like VAR go and watch lower league football and then you can moan about all the refereeing mistakes.

Football isn’t a science. All this nonsense about being offside by an armpit is, frankly, a cancer. Can’t celebrate a goal any more in case someone’s ball hair was offside 40 seconds ago.

Absolutely! There were three clear and obvious problems with VAR displayed yesterday. All three of those goals should have stood.

You're either offside or you're not, you wouldn't disallow a goal because the ball was only an inch over the line.

Every angle yesterday suggested that he was onside, some clart in a distant room decided a single armpit hair had strayed slightly into the offside position. It's killing the game.

Insulting people who have the temerity to disagree with you really is so juvenile.

Whatever. Feel free to explain why you think VAR is so fantastic. The use of it in the premier league has been farcical and is bringing the game into disrepute

The problem for me is that many supporters of VAR I have come across tend to be plastic premier league "fans" who have rarely been to a game and so interact with football entirely via sky sports. They are, frankly, clueless about real football.

And before VAR it was poor referee's that were killing the game.

It's the offside law that needs to be changed.

Was watching it being commented on by Alan McInally on "Soccer Special" on Sky Sports News - he seemed to be shouting "goal" every two minutes!

An own goal in the 6th minute of time added on... if it isn't your year this time, it never will be!

We managed to come from behind to win in the league for the first time since April 2017 (which coincidentally was also the last home league game I missed) against Blackburn. A game we could easily have lost after going behind in the first 10 minutes, but other than a dodgy start to each half we played pretty well, and the two culprits of our missed chances on boxing day both buried that hoodoo by bagging today. I've come to the conclusion that "homer" refs are a bit like gods: loads of folk claim they exist but I've yet to see any evidence of it! ;)

On VAR, it would probably have helped the clown in the middle today, but it is only ever going to be as good as the people watching the video make it. It won't solve contentious decisions entirely and if you assume it will you're bound to be disappointed.

I still think a system a bit like how "Hawkeye" in tennis works, where each team has say two "appeals" per half, which are lost if the VAR affirms the original decision, would be one way of implementing it as fairly as can be. The issues are with how it is implemented rather than the system itself.

Perhaps. I saw on another forum I’m on where someone suggested a VAR offside law and an offside law for non-VAR games. I’m not sure about that but I reckon it needs looked at by IFAB in some way or another.

I get what you mean and will admit I’m in a slightly biased position as a ref (thankfully in Scotland where we don’t have the joys of VAR
). Someone who’s toe is offside isn’t what the offside law is there for - it’s to stop attackers poaching in the penalty area for 90 minutes.
However if you let someone score who’s in an offside position - even just 1mm offside - where do you draw the line as what’s accepted? 10mm? A whole leg?
At least it’s consistent just now, even though infuriating at times.

Boro did you a favour with a 2-0 win at west brom

They did, but it's not West Brom I'm interested in, second place would do nicely so it's the chasing pack that I'm watching. Interestingly, we play West Brom at their place next.

It was very much a forced own goal, so not particularly lucky. It's all about our fitness and being in the right areas enough times ...a numbers game basically, plus a bit of sheer willpower not to lose, today. I won't be getting excited just yet (although I did celebrate us being 'safe' today with 51 points). Three tough games coming up for us West Brom (A), Arsenal (A- a massive distraction IMO from the task at hand for a small squad of experienced players), Sheffield Wednesday (H).

Good to see you're picking up some points now, hopefully Barnsley will climb clear too.

Tbh I missed the competitiveness of the Championship on our Premier League adventure. It was fun while it lasted (well, the first season was) but unless you have a rich sugar-daddy, the top-flight is a hiding to nothing*. One of the great things about this league is that any team can beat any other on the day. Nobody is cast adrift at the bottom and nobody is running away with the title, yet... Barnsley seem to have turned the corner, as do Middlesbrough.

*=Sheffield United are so far proving the exception to that rule. Chris Wilder has done outstandingly well there.
