Lancashire Day Ranger you can do Liverpool to Manchester. North West one that allows Liverpool to Leeds is a 7 day.

Another one that is quite a good day rover / ranger ticket is the Cheshire one Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe Stoke on Trent.

It looks as though 1E41, the 14:54 LIV-SCA, will be starting from MCV (at 15:30) with a Mk5 + 68 set: ECS viewed on the Ordsall chord about to enter MCV, but couldn't see which one it was. So all four should be out again, hopefully.

Loco on the Scarborough end, by the way.

PS I forgot to say: thanks very much, SJpowermac, for the timetable simplifiers - much appreciated!

Thanks for that. It’s 68022 on 1E41. Pleased you like the timetable:)

‘What the left hand giveth, the right hand taketh away’: game over for 68025 Superb today, 1F74/1E51 cancelled ‘due to a lack of train drivers’.

Obviously, on the scale of CAF failures, smoke pouring from one bogie on a coach in passenger service isn't "serious" at all....
It isn’t really the fault of the train if train crew isolate the service brakes and don’t release the parking brakes

And good to hear no serious damage done :)
Agreed and looking forward to another trip on this one soon.

Timetable fallen apart a bit this evening with 1F74/1F78 and 1E51/1E53 cancelled ‘due to a shortage of drivers’.

So, 68022 ‘Resolution’ and 68025 ‘Superb’ at Scarborough for morning.

12/13 sets will be in service, 1 set on maintenance, 7 are required for the Liverpool - Scarborough route which with cover all workings and there are 7 diagrams required to cover the Airport - Redcar route which will be covered by the other 5 sets with 2 diagrams being worked by 185’s.
Is the 13th set the one in maintenance or is it the 12th one?

The way I read this is:
13 sets built
7 in use daily to Scarborough
5 in use daily to Redcar
1 on maintenance.
So, the answer to your question would be, under ideal circumstances, ‘the 13th’.

1) Who was blaming the train? A failure is a failure, however caused.

2) That's a fairly serious allegation to make on a public forum. Are you saying the train crew acted maliciously?

"Calm down, calm down", he says in a comedy Scouse accent! (Can't find a suitable smiley with curly black hair and a tache...)

I have little doubt in my mind that if this incident was caused by an operational error, it cannot be regarded as a CAF/train failure, which was implied in your earlier post (#459) - even if you hadn't intended it to read like that.

I didn't see what @Erniescooper said was any form of allegation of ill intent by any staff, just his opinion or knowledge that it was caused by human error, rather than something being wrong with the train itself. This wouldn't be anything surprising with a new fleet, especially one that is significantly different to what was used previously.

We all read things differently - and sometimes get into heated discussions that we don't need to or even intend (I've been guilty of that on occasion!) - and I think this is one of those. Have another look at post #459 and see how it might read to someone else.

Clearly, yourself and @Erniescooper have been valuable contributors to this thread and it would be a real shame if that changed as a result of what appears to have been a misunderstanding.

Peace  (Looking for a hippy smiley, but failing again, so that one will have to do!)

That's like what I've seen previously, and always wondered why they didn't just order 15 sets (money?), so as to keep the carriage numbers/reservations/set swaps, between the same formation?
Or were these ordered prior to the extension to Redcar, which has stretched the availability of the 68/CAF sets, requiring the 185s to stay on that route?

You are right about the Redcar extension, that definitely came after the order for the Nova 3 sets. An order for another couple of sets would make a lot of sense.

The hopelessly optimistic May 2018 timetable had 6 diagrams for the basic Scarborough service and 6 diagrams for the basic Middlesbrough service, which matched the 12 from 13 plan. Then reality hit home, so there are no longer enough sets!

68025 came through Victoria at 0830, but the service had been cancelled.

So I had to get a 150 East instead!
