some were installed at right angles to the railway so passengers on train could not read them!
Speaking of right angles, the massive running in boards at Gleneagles are or were at 90 degrees to the line. At least the driver will know where he is I guess.

What about Bedford? There it’s a mix of 1997 Govia Thameslink, First Capital Connect and GTR Thameslink!

Retford has this abomination. Possibly also a contender for “worst strapline trying to encourage visitors”

For the Ruislips, it's hard to tell. The stations appear both on Chiltern's and LU's licences. LU only has licenced activity for 'national network' stuff, so there's clearly a disconnect somewhere. They can't both manage the NR elements!

They dont - unless it has changed the the NR stations are still managed and maintained by Chiltern

Those at Credition are replica Southern lamp tablets. They were erected by the friends of the station. I believe their style predates the SR targets.
There are plenty of NSE/Thames platform numbers in the Thames valley.
Bristol TM has proper GWR direction signs over the subway n plats 13/15.
Many Wessex name signs simply had First stickers placed over the Wessex branding. Some of these can still be seen as ghost lettering. Equally many BR signs were vinylled over with the latest incombants brand.
I've always found the signs at Crediton to be unusual - they're not even the same as any others on the branch. The green (BR southern region?) signs at Barnstaple are normal in comparison.
Sorry, loaded the quote at the bottom

Kearsney has a painted sign on the down platform reading "Kearsney for River & Ewell" which I think was uncovered when a building was demolished and then restored.

Not a sign as such but the footbridge at Kirkham and Wesham bizarrely has Kirkham and Wesham painted on it in huge white letters above the main lines on the side facing the platforms. Nobody on a train at those platforms would have a hope of reading it except from the cab.

Platform 6 at Wimbledon still has the white SWT with the red swoosh. But only right, right, right at the southern end of the platform right underneath the footbridge, almost at the point where pax can't go any further.

As they seem to be putting them at all their stations I guess they're not really non standard in the strictest sense but I do find it interesting that London Northwestern Railway (WMT too....?) have chosen to put massive great plain white signs up at station entrances with none of their own branding whatsoever, just the station name and the double arrow symbol.
