Acton Mainline / West Ealing / Hanwell are closed from 24th December to 1st January inclusive.

My initial assumption was this was to allow progress to be made on their new station buildings. However, observing West Ealing on 29th December I didn't see significant changes.

All the stations above have no platforms on the fast/main lines and are typically closed when flexibility is needed to run services on the fast lines of needed.

Tfl published several notices regarding signalling issues affecting the Paddington - Heathrow / Hayes & Harlington services on 28th December. Is this a coincidence or was the purpose of closing these stations to allow signalling tests (possibly in relation to 345s running to Heathrow)?

This is nothing new, it's been common over the last few Christmas/ new years. Hanwell in particular has a rough deal as after years of no evening or Sunday services until recently it's not seen any benefit of the new trains or Crossrail. Still stuck with a 5 coach half hourly Heathrow service.

That said the lifts at Hanwell looked pretty much done when I was there a few weeks ago.

Between the parallel lines
The Greenford Branch ran from 1400 ish yesterday and today. (For all 3 passengers who would have used it...) Therefore West Ealing must have been open.

There was a full line block from the 24th to the 27th December, so no trains into Paddington.
There was a limited service after that, I imagine there was a possession of the Relief lines so services couldn't stop at these stations until today

Exactly. From what I can see in the Weekly Operating Notice is that reliefs were not reopened until 1300 on 31st. Also work was carried out on most of the main stations (not those mentioned) as well as track stuff.

OHLE upgrade work going on thus enable lots of little bits of station work to go on.
Unfortunately there may be an RAIB report on the electrification work due to a very serious injury.
