Eindhoven Travel advice

I am planning a visit to Eindhoven it says change in Breda from Brussels is there any advantage of changing here rather than say Rotterdam? And what’s to see in Eindhoven? Is it better to skip and revisit Amsterdam? I have done many day trips from Brussels but running out of options now without going into France and Germany to stay. Also how far is the football stadium from the centre?

1. IF you would change in Rdm this would mean double tracking and not paying and thus getting fined on a check for the BReda-Rtm sector. The normal hourly BeNeLux trains all stop in Breda-barring works and the like. The Thalys does not but will be much more expensive anyway. Best buy is to book online untill 7 days before the 24 eur single, there is no train-fixing on these, only valid after 9.00 mo-fr.
BUT rail is a rather roundabout route anyway for this, a direct bus or even the DB-run IC bus from Antwerp might be quicker and is cheaper.
2.JUst google for the usual tourist sites or go to TA=tripadvisor, as its a major FR=Ryan cheap airfield (currently suspended due to fog with 100s stranded) thus has plenty of comments. It does not come very high on the usual touristy things to do in NL here.
3.The stadium is around 1 km away and along the railway line north from Ehv main Central (since this year!) station, there even used to be some trains stopping on a football-aimed platform right beside. The airport bus 401 passes beside. The whole side used to be the main site for the Philips electrical works, this is the P in PSV, and is now being redevloped into a kind of trendy ´hipster´ area.
4.PS. IF this trip is only after 1/3, then also consider LUXembourgh and its then free local transport.

Cool how does Utrecht compare tourism wise? I have visited Rotterdam already so wanted to try somewhere new.

If you are interested in electric buses and BRT then Eindhoven is interesting.

I know nothing about Eindhoven and we all have very different opinions on what makes a good tourist attraction, but the Belgian railways catalogue of day trips has some interesting stuff (search b-excursions) including a little tram to some caves in the Ardennes... edit https://www.belgiantrain.be/en/leisure/b-excursions/nature-animal-parks/domaine-grottes-han/ Personally I've always fancied visiting https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/kemmel-s-top-secret-command-bunker but that's just my own personal penchant for underground stuff.

Eindhoven is the home of Philips
I suspect some of the local museums are high on technology, there's certainly a TV museum

Utrecht is a must I think. Wonderful old town and canals. Don't forget the national railway museum in Utrecht.

The Jan Louwers Stadion, where FC Eindhoven play is about 20 minutes away by bus 407.
Last time I visited it had 3 stands and was a far more friendly place than the corporate Philips building near the centre of the city.

Eindhoven is Philips. End of.
Visit the Evoluon building, a 5 min bus ride to the SW. Built, of course, by Philips.
It's what the future was going to be, from the perspective of the 60s.
The NS Station itself is worth a look, one of the few remaining modern stations built in the 50s (bit like R'dam CS used to be), with an all-over roof.

Yes the station does look quite old fashioned I must admit I do prefer Rotterdam and Utrecht station.

I've visited both Eindhoven and Utrecht, and though they're very different cities, I'd recommend a visit to either.

The Phillips museum in Eindhoven is good, and if you like modern art the van Abbe museum is very good. The Strijp area next to the football stadium makes for a good walk from the city centre too - an old industrial area being repurposed (and as mentioned above, a bit hipsterish, but that's fine as it brings nice cafes). I'd recommend visiting during the Glow Festival - a festival of light art in the home of the lightbulb! If it is just a daytrip you're after, Den Bosch may be an option - about half an hour from Eindhoven by train, but much more of the old Dutch city ambience with narrow streets about a market square.

Utrecht is also more of the typical Dutch city with a canal ring surrounding the old town and a nice old church with a tower you can climb. The Museeum Speelklok is a fun collection of all kinds of automatic music devices, and of course there's the Dutch Railway Museum...
