Just been having a good look at Hull Trains for May 2020 onwards

Looks like they adding some extra services

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y20038/2020-05-28/detailed
This one does not stop at Howden or Selby but calls Sandy ??

doesn't seem to be a corresponding working Northbound

Sandy is a pathing stop - the train goes fast line to slow line there to allow 1A02 0530 Leeds to London Kings Cross to pass, then returns to the fast line. This may be to ensure that it doesn't get to Kings Cross too early to go on top of another service in platform 4.

There is a path from Bounds Green for a later train in the evening towards Hull as well.

5H08 2145 Bounds Green T&R.S.M.D to London Kings Cross presumably works something around 2230 towards Hull.

The number of moves off Bounds Green (and lack of empty stock workings at the Hull end) suggests that that will be the maintenance base rather than Doncaster Carr (or Crofton).

The train actually runs along the slow line from Huntingdon, then returning to the fast line following 1A02 from Sandy as you said.

You are correct about Bounds Green as maintenance base. Hitachi supposed to be taking it over. Presumably will mean less ecs running from Hull to Doncaster?

Not a great path looking at all the pathing time but probably a lucrative slot to capture some more of the commuter market, arriving into Kings X just before 8.

I'm not sure whether you mean Hitachi taking over Bounds Green depot or Hitachi taking the Hull Trains maintenance contract. I suspect you mean the latter, but if the former then Hitachi already took over the depot (in November 2018).

Also, it looks like the 07:59 arrival will share a platform with the first Sunderland GC of the day which sits in platform 4R in the current timetable from 07:05 to 08:27.

There isn't a return northbound path in the system yet. It will be interesting to see if they can get a departure between the current 1548 & 1848 Hull Trains departures.

Surprised it doesn't leave Hull around 04:50 to make Howden and Selby stops possible.

I suspect the omission of Howden and Selby is to keep it flexible in case it needs to be sent via Goole due to early morning works.

If they advertise the stops, then that's a bus replacement you've got to run.

A very late evening departure would be interesting to see, especially if it calls at the usual suspects such as Retford, might prove useful although likely won't connect to Worksop as the last Northbound LNER that calls that misses it by a couple of minutes due to reasons unknown.

A stop at Huntington or St Neots wouldn't go a miss in that case. Considering the delay at Sandy, a stop at either of these or even Sandy would be fabulous.

Sandy is the furthest station north on the ECML to only be served by a Thameslink in the peaks - so a faster service would go down well.

Who for? There won't be too many people from any of the stations Hull Trains call at who will be wanting to go to Sandy. The last thing they will want is passengers at Sandy filling up their train.

From a practical perspective a stop between Huntingdon and Sandy is not going to happen even if the train has to wait at Sandy.
