* Note: the 1358 train was originally posted as 1348, and was subsequently changed.

We then have a quick trip to the nearest cafe, and, running with our dinner, we manage to get on board the absolutely packed 1710 42 Stagecoach Merseyside service, as far as Rock Ferry station, where we are pushed off the bus for eating too loudly at 1720 on the damp Friday afternoon.

Getting lost trying to find the non-existent bus to Alton Towers, we end up outside Boots on the High Street, where happily, after a quick nip to grab a All Day Breakfast sandwich, at 0858 a Manchester-bound 42B comes to take us back to civilisation, arriving at Piccadilly 0948 Saturday morning.

Well, that was the last X5 of the night and since there is nothing else in walking range, we take an early night and (tomorrow being Sunday) a lie in prior to catching the first X5 of the morning at 09:30. It takes us to Gosport Bus Station where we arrive at 09:54 in Sunday morning.
