I thought I'd attempt to wake this thread up again by sharing this major news...

It also seems the 374s can operate on any 373 diagram now as they are running the ski route to Bourg St Maurice and have seemingly replaced them on this service now. And from recent observations it seems all the unrefurbished sets are fully withdrawn (as of Jan 2020), though I'm unsure if they are stored at Temple Mills, Le Landy or Vorst depots... or if they are awaiting scrapping.

Why don’t they replace them all with 374’s then or do they not want to order more? Shame they won’t store the old carriages in a rail museum I have never actually been on an original one only seen it from the outside.

Eurostar has the option to order another 7 (I believe) in the future from Siemens which would most likely kill off the refurbished 373s, though I personally would rather the 373s stay a bit longer, especially when it comes to the long distance seasonal routes.

i thought the 374s weren't cleared South of Paris? has they've now been cleared
They have now, and according to a post from Siemens last year where a 374 made it down the LGV Méditerranée to Marseille they'll mostly likely take over that route this summer (provided they don't break down at Ashford Intl again).

Does the E320 still conform to modern requirements even though the first sets were ordered a good few years ago now?

Priest Abnormal Load Services placed several photos on their Facebook page, bringing the preserved North of London power car 373304 and TBFO to Derby, to be added for the 1:1 Collection Museum at Hornby, Margate.

So where is the carriage going? I’ve never actually been inside an original Eurostar and probably won’t get a chance unless I go on Izzy. Shame they never put these carriages in York museum as it’s nice and central to visit.

A little heads up for anyone wishing to see, ride or train spot the IZY 3213/3224 set, the set appears to have been out of service for about 6 months and replaced with a refurbished Eurostar e300 set (3007/8), which explains why a lot of Eurostar 373 diagrams are now replaced with 374s at the moment. I have no idea when things will rectify and the actual IZY set will return to service.

Did something happen with the IZY TMST?

I’m unsure, but I tried to go see it last month and Thalys had the e300 set running on it instead.

According to this tweet back in August 2019, they were using it back in summer.

The IZY 373 set was in use in October, so I suspect it's just because there's only one, so if it's out of service for any reason they have to hire one in from Eurostar. You'd think that would significantly impact the profitability of a low-cost service though.. I was hoping to get it at some point but the risk of getting an ordinary e300 makes it seem less worth it.

IIRC izy dont hire that specific set they just hire A set. Eurostar intially used the one they branded izy but if that's unavailable eurostar have to provide something so apparently right now that means an e300

I just saw an unrefurbished 373 pass by on the LGV Nord, observed from TGV 7015 Paris Nord - Lille Flandres. Could it be that there's still an unrefurbished set in passenger service? Or could it be that it's currently being used for IZY services (it definitely was a 373 in the old Eurostar livery)?

Hello, apologies if slightly irrelevant, does anyone know if train 9110, the 0647 STP to Brussels has been getting viced often recently ? As will be catching it on Wednesday with fingers crossed that it's the booked 373. Many thanks in advance.

EDIT: and also the 1756 back from Brussels on Thursday evening.

Before the previous post I would have said that it might have been a 374 due to the IZY e300 373 shortage. However if Eurostar are using the classic sets again then you now have a higher chance of 9110 being a 373.

Did you see it near Arras?

Thanks, now on said train as we speak with 373206 bringing up the rear !

Is the 373’s at risk of scrap if Eurostar has to operate a reduced schedule or will the budget airlines going under create a new market for trains?

2 problems, they are rusting (well the alloy version of rusting) and the newer units have a higher capacity so make more money, depends on how many short-haul budget airlines survive & what their post virus prices are if Eurostar price well they can take customers away from airlines if they are equal its a choice of speed to destination vs productivity on the train.
is a short-haul price war on the cards between land and air travel

They're going to be using the 373s on the services to the south long into the future as the depots like those at Lyon-Gerland or Marseille-Blancarde have no idea how to service them. By contrast, Desiros are exactly what the Dutch and German depots do best, so for routes to the Benelux and to Germany via the Benelux they will be using 374s whilst the TMSTs continue to travel through France, given the parts commonality with the TGVs.
