Noticed that during the week. It’s definitely not all of them that are uncovered but there doesn’t seem to be a pattern to which units do & don’t have the sockets covered
They seem to be spending only a few days there. What are they doing?
These are the first units which didnt get the full refurbishment at Springburn. Getting the new seats, tables and plug sockets fitted.

Resurrecting this thread after 320314 was moved to Brodie Engineering in Kilmarnock earlier today for a time-based overhaul.

TBOX service on Class 320 vehicles

Brodie Engineering are excited to announce that we will be carrying out TBOX services on Eversholt Rail’s fleet of Class 320 vehicles.
The fleet of 22 units, each a three car set, is operated by ScotRail out of the Shields depot.
ScotRail Head of Fleet Technical, Jeff Doherty said:
“The Class 320s are a valued part of our fleet, and this work to further renew the condition will ultimately enhance the overall experience for our customers.”
Class 320 to undertake TBOX at Brodie Engineering
Steve Timothy, Client Relations Director, Eversholt Rail said:
“We are delighted to be working with Brodie Engineering on our Class 320 fleet. This investment is vital to ensure we continue to provide a safe and high-quality train for our customers and rail passengers in Scotland.”
The TBOX (time based overhaul) is carried out approximately every 9 years, and requires safety-critical overhauls on components including brakes, doors and pantograph equipment. Brodie Engineering’s talented workforce have the skills, experience and competence to carry out these works within our Kilmarnock depot. While in Kilmarnock the vehicles will also receive an exterior repaint in our state-of-the-art paint booth.
George Davidson, Transport Scotland’s Rolling Stock Sponsor said:
“It’s good to see this safety-critical work on ScotRail’s class 320 fleet taking place at Brodie’s and securing jobs in Kilmarnock. This reflects the industry’s trust in the highly-skilled workforce and the fact this type of overhaul can be carried out here in Scotland.”
The work for this contract will commence in January 2020 and will be completed at the end of 2021.

I must say a lot of work has gone into the Class 320s in recent years. They’ve only just been refurbished. I must say though the 320s always appear to be a lot dirtier exterior wise than other members of the fleet. The front are particular look very grubby sometimes. Perhaps this is why they are being relivered again after such a short space of time.
Its been 9 years since they were painted.

No idea about painting, but the 380s are getting an overhaul, with the motors and other ancillaries refreshed, so it wouldn't surprise me if a fresh coat of paint was also applied
The 380 will be getting some sort of interior refresh soon according to this notice on Public Contracts Scotland. No mention of an exterior repaint though.

Don't think its been mentioned but Brodies owned 156478 has now had the new Fainsa seats and sockets fitted, bringing it up to the same standard as the other units. The cabs haven't been repainted though.

Some of the 380/0’s now have LED lighting fitted. Believe it to be 380015 and 380020. As far as I’m aware, none of the 380/1 have had LED fitted. I hope the further work includes plugs at airline seats, bit silly having them at tables only. I also believe this work might be to bring them up to similar standard as 385.

The new led lighting is far too bright and white. As to bringing them up to the 'standard" of a 385, well that would be a poor show as the 380 is far superior to a 385 in almost every aspect from the driving cab to the seats!

Hi, first post but short time reader, I'm on the 9:45am Scotrail train from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street, on the 14th April 2020, does anyone know which train it will be?

Any reason why you are on a specific service?
If you mean which specific unit, then it could be pretty much any Class 385. There's no way to know until the day.

Oh yeah indeed about the plug sockets.
I don’t mean fully make them like 385s. But have them as a similar standard, such as new moquette and maybe fabric carpet.
