It's been sent to do it's reliability mileage. 006 has done most of it's, with the last part being over 5 days after Christmas. Route clearance and training will then start. 008 will be back in January
thanks for the info :)

Nope 006 is going into refresh work at pullmans No tfw units have gone into millage acumilation yet as they are only cleared for approx 25 miles of running so more thn likely they will be done out of crewe so that they can be done in a week
008 will be the first to do it

See the delivery was cancelled due to traction issues. Wonder if this is unit or loco?

TfW are having no luck whatsoever are they? 769s still on hold, no sign of 230s and there were 2 out of 10 170s in service today apparently. No wonder WalesOnline is on a daily bitch fest!

If drivers are training on the 230's and the production one is testing it surely can't be long before we see on in action?

TFW Twitter only said today that the 230s will be in use on the Borderlines route from Spring 2020. But we have heard all this before

No they certainly not having any luck!! Wasn't the first Class 769 delivered to Canton back in March 2019, 10 months ago? For what good it is the 230 and 769 project needs to be out out of it's misery, how about a few ex Northern Pacers on a temporary basis to help out? :) Also what I've heard Greater Anglia handed the 170's over in an appalling condition hence many have been to Canton/Landore/Tyseley for works.

Are there any other units due to come off lease soon from other operators? Some more 170s or 158s, or dare I say it 153s.
Put double 153s on the city line,
Speed up introductions of 170s on the heart of wales.
Are there enough 150s to solely cover valleys?
Scrap the 769s altogether.
Time is going on now so there may be other operators losing some older frames that TfW could pick up that weren't available before.

The ex Northern 142s cannot be used by TFW because, although TFWs 142s can continue in service, the dispensation applies to individual numbers and not the fleet type as a whole. It would possible take some legal wrangling to change anything.

the 4 ex-EMR 153s moved to Arriva TrainCare Crewe the other day, and I believe that they're being delivered to Canton on Saturday the 11th, though not sure. The 5 ex-GA 153s haven't entered service yet though, despite having been delivered over a month ago. These 9 little units are of course the ones that Porterbrook are leasing to TfW to "cover for" the 769s, and will remain unmodified and they have dispensation to operate until 31/12/2019. They just need to operate in the first place!

It was supposed to have arrived before Christmas but..........

As for 002 apparently there's not a lot in common with the TFW ones, apart from the drive train, so while it might give some handling experience it's not going give a massive amount of training to drivers and guards.

For what it's worth, I'd heard that 002 cabs are identical to the tfw ones which is why it's being used for early training. No use for guards though as there are few similarities.

Did 002 have a third carriage added to it? I’ve not kept up with its operations since it went up to Bo’ness.

Strange that Vivarail haven’t done a formal announcement on the delay yet, like what happened with the WMT units.
