today I videoed the class 142s and HSTs at Gascoigne Wood as I passed through on the train. Can anyone help me on how to upload the video please? It's 275,000 KB.
The videos you see on this site are embedded YouTube videos. If you copy and paste the link to a video hosted on a supported external site it should put it in a player in the post.

Would be nice to see a few more pacers get preserved on heritage lines, hopefully some preserved lines a bit more closer to me , might have their eyes on a prize, East kent is probably my closest (Sussex) id be happy to donate a bit of cash. May be spa valley railway or lavender line.

Here's the funny thing, I've emailed roughly ten to fifteen heritage railways and asked them whether they'd preserve a Pacer. I'm just awaiting for the replies.

Who out there has the earliest photograph of a 142. Also I have a photograph of a 142 with the name River Tyne.

Vstp Heaton to Gascoigne Wood today
https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train?c=78395&d=08/01/2020

Move to Newport docks activated for today
https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train?c=K06194&d=08/01/2020

And a Gascoigne to Newport Friday
https://live.rail-record.co.uk/train?c=K06283&d=10/01/2020

Seems to be all sorts of bits and bobs running out of Worksop this week though but between Nottingham, Lincoln etc so I wouldn't like to say if these are Pacers or not

Activity at Worksop cd be more Northern crew training on 195s. 2x195s were reported on a Barrow to Worksop run last week presumably for that purpose.

Newport docks never left so I assume that’s cancelled and newton Heath was also cancelled

just noticed there is a second Newton Heath to gascoigne wood however pathed as a sprinter. Still it’s probably a pacer

What's the situation with 142049...? It was reported by RAIL magazine as having moved to TfW Rail, but seeing as that was also claimed for 142042 and that moved to Newport Docks, I doubt it. Is it still just 3 TfW "spare parts" 142s, with 142086 at Canton and 142012 and 142079 at Landore...?

Just passed Newton Heath on the tram. Very much looks like 3 more 142s about to leave the depot for the final time. Couldn't see which ones unfortunately

I have come across this recent video on Youtube of a visit to CF Booth's scrapyard. It shows one carriage of 142044 being scrapped. It appears to be engineless, apparently 142044 was withdrawn due to an engine fire.

Of interest is Motive Power Recognition: 3 DMUs - 2nd Edition Published by Ian Allan in 1986 By Colin Marsden. The front cover shows a brand new 142001 on 17th May 1985 when it was handed over.

As you said Gascoigne to Newport cancelled but Newton Heath to Gascoign is running.

Guess is 142 024 and 062 which I think where at NH. Does this empty the west and east depots of withdrawn units just leaving a few at Heaton?

With activities concentrated on Gascoigne wood not been much mention of the units stored at Workshop.
K
Havent seen any moves recently from there and no paths in for the next few days at least by the looks of things, guessing its serving its purpose which is for unit storage

Sorry for garbled previous message - my phone seemed to develop a mind of its own. What I meant to say was that 142 024 / 054 / 062 have just passed Horbury Bridge somewhat earlier than anticipated en route to Gascoigne Wood.

Will all those become Manchester area based or do you think they will still be used network wide?

As the North East don't operate any booked doubled up units. I would say they would be all based in the North West. However it's quite ironic that prior to the withdrawals. Out of the 24 units above. Twelve were based at Heaton with the other 12 at Newton Heath.

142029 seems to have aquired a friend for company at the Chasewater Railway - 142030 perhaps?
