'Due to a train fault' Felixstowes 'will be suspended from 10.58 for the rest of the day'. :'(
Not all cancellations yet shown in Journey Check so perhaps some hope that they will be reinstated later?

Services were suspended from first thing this morning then reinstated and now suspended again.

I understand why people refer to the 170's as Grotty. The lighting is yellowy and dim and the whole interior looks like it needs a damn good wash and brighten up. The 755's have raised the bar for comfort - even if their ride is a bit firmer. On the track between Crown Point and Brundall Gardens, the nose and vibration being transmitted through the bogie into the cabin was actually quite unpleasant. There is a grinding noise, plus the rail joints. I don't remember the loco hauled set riding so badly over it. or the 156s for that matter!

How come there are turds and toilet paper decorating the line at Diss this morning? Thought everything through here had retention tanks?

Have seen a number of debranded Mk3s and a rebranded 90 (90011) running in service this morning.
Temporary reprieve from retirement or preparation for imminent replacement by 745s?

Ah, did not know that. Did they come back because of the chronic rolling stock shortage?
Yes nice bit of cooperation between EMR & GA via DfT. The they had been renumbered as 156/9s so a 4 was hastily put back.

Any reason they could not send the 153s to Greater Anglia. Has the traction knowledge lapsed? It maybe is good cross industry cooperation but it is also showing total contempt to East Midlands passengers that yet again we are getting stuck with some of the worse rolling stock in the UK (the 153s) because another company messed up its procurement. Feel strongly about this as it is always the East Midlands getting shafted. (Lose the 158s centre cars, dft gets the specifications wrong for EMT result not enough trains)

if the 153s went greater anglia would still have trains and EMT would see some small improvements to its service. Rather than the current message you are unimportant - greater anglia deserve decent trains you can only have rolling stock no-one else wants. They will get new trains your area is only allowed cast offs.

rant over.

I have no idea why but it was a logical thing to do. One TOC was in far more of a crisis than the other and was offered some short term relief. If a few bitter people cannot understand that then shame on them. Let's hope they never find themselves in that position as what goes around...

We have. For the entire duration of the EMT franchise. No cross industry support just buses as people get left behind on the platforms.
Greater Anglia got themselves in this mess, everyone saw it coming once the winning bid was announced. - if it was real cross industry support the entire industry would help. But this is not the case. Just one franchise that is helping - one that didn’t have enough rolling stock in the first place.

Did the industry help GTR back in 2018?
Is the industry helping SWR, Northern or TPE?

If Greater Anglia’s management are held to account fair enough. If EMR suffer and Greater Anglia get off without providing any compensation to EMR passengers the situation is poor. To be bailed out in this way shows that is the way to bid for franchises. Get it wrong - we have unimportant franchises to bail you out.

I don’t want to see any passengers left on platforms because of the inability to provide a service. But at the moment it appears to be a question of which passengers shall we make the service unusable? The answer is EMRs because Greater Anglia managements poor franchise bid. Unfortunately the only way to make changes is to have a backlash from the passengers. But at the moment Greater Anglia come out if this looking good and EMR management look incompetent even if they can do nothing about the situation.

If EMR had sent the 153s everyone would win. Greater Anglia would still operate a service. EMR rural areas would see their first service improvements since the 1990s.
