I took my stage 2 on the 25th November and I'm still awaiting a date for my DMI. The waiting is the worst bit, I'm constantly checking my emails.

New member - first post.

I passed my 1st & 2nd driver assessments and the MMI and each time I received an invite to the next stage within 2 days. I've been told the next stage is a DMI, but haven't received an invite two weeks later? Should I be worried?

GWR, 19/20 talent pool at Plymouth.
I also passed 1st stage in Oct and the 2nd stage on the 10th Dec... got the email to say I passed the day after 11th Dec and I’m still waiting there has been workforce requirements, which have now delayed the process so it’s a waiting game

Hi all,

Just touching base to see if anyone has any new info.

I've been in the Bristol TM talent pool since August. Has anyone been given any indication of their upcoming recruitment needs for this depot?

I know they have halted most of the applicants at the early stages of the process for the 20/21 talent pool, but is anyone still going through the assessment stages for the depot?

Thanks.

Evening All,

Having just read all 45 pages of this thread, and countless others throughout the recruitment process, I'm also creeping out of the shadows... Many thanks to all and anyone who gave sound advice, it was gratefully received.

I passed my DMI In August and have been in the pool for Gloucester ever since.
Like Mr Oli, I too was wondering if anyone had any news about what's going on recruitment/talent pool wise at Gloucester and other depots. Does anyone think it's worth contacting HR to check up or do you reckon their fed up with people asking!?

Thanks

Hi Bo, I too passed the DMI and we are both in the talent pool for Gloucester. I know of one other fellla in the same talent pool too.
I don't have any news personally but if/when I do I'll be sure to pass it on.

I’ve been in the talent pool for Bristol since September and I’ve not heard anything yet either . They did say in the email they have to finish assessing everyone first and they still have some more people to interview yet, so may be a while.

Thanks Paul,

I’ll do the same. Guess we just sit tight and keep answering those unknown numbers..
Well done for getting through. You too EmmD

Happy New Year to everyone on here, let's hope this is our year for getting into training? Has anyone had any news from Reading? I went into the pool in December. I've had a bit of a confidence crisis, did anyone else feel overwhelmed by the responsibility? I have given myself a stern talking to and I'm back on track (scuse the pun) and raring to go now.

I was the same (probably in the same hotel even?). When I had my introduction to train handling, the leading driver I was with said “you’ll have good days and bad days”, and that’s very true I’ve found. It’s intense training, but once you get out there and start your driving hours things will start to make more sense. I still come home sometimes feeling stupid because I don’t understand something or did something that in hindsight I know was bizarre, but on the whole, once the classroom stuff is out the way and you can focus on periodic assessments rather than assessments every other day, it’ll get better.

I find that I doubt myself, then I pass an assessment and find that gives me a bit of a boost. You think you forget stuff, but when push comes to shove, it’s amazing what you retain.

Thanks, it's a big deal, isn't it. Just got to have faith in the training I guess, and work hard. I'm used to studying stuff lots, currently I am a teacher!

You’ll be fine. There is a LOT of information to take in during the classroom but the trainers are very good and it covers everything you need for externals like us :)

I assume it isn't a good thing for those of us in the talent pool if GWR are advertising for qualified drivers for the depots us newbies are waiting for? Currently advertising for Exter, Plymouth, Reading, Oxford, Bristol & Par. I really hope I get the chance to work for this company (best TOC in my opinion) and would love to hear something soon regarding a start date!

They were still advertising for qualified drivers at my depot when I got my job so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I would see that as a positive in that there are still spaces to be filled!

After the course that started last week I think that is the last one currently planned down in Newton Abbott until the end of the year.
