Hi there,

There’s a practice tool attached to page 1 of this very thread.
The test is conducted on paper, so ideally, you should print off practice sheets, which are handily included in the practice tool too. :)

Hi all Can anyone tell me what scores A pass on the online bourdon test tool please

This seems to be a closely guarded secret so it's just a case of practising until you get to a point you're making as few errors and omissions as possible. As a rule of thumb, 9 or 10 rows seems to be a good target to aim
for

Thanks for the reply yes I’m hitting 10 rows on average and like 0 incorrect with 2-3 omissions but I’ve just started so hopefully be able to slash 1-2 off the omissions

Hello all

I've just seen a sheet that has 26 lines worth of dots. On average I was getting 11/12 lines.

Would that meet the enhanced pass standards?

Hi would 11 lines (part way through the 12th) with one ommission and none incorrect be enough to pass to enhanced standard?

Yeah honestly take your time its about concentration and word of advice work zig zac across
Zig Zags? Err I can't agree with you on that one, but then again everyone has their own way of doing things. I usually go from Left to right on each row.

Yeah I did this, left to right then right to left etc until about the 10th line then I just started on the left for each line as I didn't wanna get any potentional ommisions by missing out a whole line by starting at the end lol

I found this easier to do tho as its quicker and least you can get more mark, im happy to say that i have passed all mine and been given a trainee guards position. Cant wait

You know that the OPC tell you it has to be left to right.

Yes we know. Everyone has their own technique.
Ok , well if you do your own technique and it goes against what the OPC require , then don't be surprised if you fail. It's not just about passing assessments , it's also about following rules/instructions.

They may not have noticed. But someone else might be noticed. Other people might need the advice. Well done to you though .

Eh? I don't think it matters how you do it. I can only recall the opc people saying it starts from the left but nothing about you HAVE to start on the left for each line. I'm sure if it was a big issue the opc would have stated that it's against the rule to do it in that manner and therefore you would disqualify. The only reason I wouldn't really advise people to do it that way is because you can potentionally make a lot of ommision on the last line if you started on the right and the assessor calls time which is why I only did the zig zag for 8-10 lines.

I can recall that is what they told my group ... Don't go right to left , but hey ho . Perhaps they didn't mean to , or some other reason unbeknown.

Yeah, as mentioned above, if you go from right to left and time runs out whilst you're stuck on the right side of the page, you've probably put yourself at a big risk of failing the test, as the test is marked from left to right. I would strongly advise against this approach. Remember, you only get two lifetime chances at this.

I today received an email from the Metrolink in Manchester regarding the SCAAT test. They wanted me to do one online before 17/11 . Only trouble is that I am away from 15/11 - 18/11. I used the download for some rapid practice and I think I did ok-ish on the test. I do feel like my eyes are about to fall out though!

Hi all,

I used this tool a couple of years back and found it very useful. Myself and my Mrs both use Macs and my work computer needs admin rights to install (and I don't think they'd be too happy with me asking permission to download a tool to potentially get myself another job haha!)

Would anyone be so kind as to email me over a handful of the print outs if at all possible? I've got a bunch of test sheets but I really want to go through as many variations as possible.

Thank you in advance!

Tom
