According to Realtime Trains (if I'm reading it correctly) it will be doing the reversing sidings at Bootle Oriel Road at 2358 to 0028, through Bank Hall at 0031 and Sandhills at 0034 to 0039. Should be able to get some good shots and video from all those places. I wish I could be there.
Bootle Oriel Road will just be closing and Bank Hall and Sandhills will be closed. Don't Merseyrail lock all of their stations?

Can I ask a question? Why are they not bringing them through Hunts Cross? That (to me) would be the more logical route. Is there a way from the mainline (to Lime Street) to switch over to Merseyrail just before Liverpool South Parkway? Through the underground to Sandhills and straight onto Kirkdale. None of this faffing about using reversing sidings at Bootle Oriel Road and Sandhills.
This is just speculation on my part, but that would mean going through the tunnel. This would be tricky with a diesel freight locomotive on the front.

Blimey, that must have been at Rugby when I passed through there earlier this morning. Didn't even realise, it must have been hidden on the other side of the station building!

According to RTT, the service has been cancelled. Not sure from where to where though. Maybe it'll be left in the sidings until tomorrow instead of making the journey up to Kirkdale tonight.

It appears to have been cancelled at Crewe https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/tr...K1nTOMXU5V1mBUkf26iVSojyLgCzDS-TUuNVLmByjCRrk

railcam says reinstated

It is showing as cancelled at 0231 this morning and reinstated at the same time so maybe just an error. It's running as planned though and is currently in the UDL at Crewe waiting to head into the refuge siding for a rest

You would still have to do two reversals (at South Parkway and Hunts Cross) so not really any easier, unless you go via Manchester and Warrington Central. But then you run into the issue of running a diesel train through the Merseyrail underground.

Merseytravel have a short clip on their Twitter of it passing through Stafford this morning. https://twitter.com/Merseytravel/status/1217380474613530629

I never realised the new 777's had shared bogies until I watched that clip.

Nearly photobombed by the Voyager too!

Wont it be abled to run under it's own power when on the Merseyrail Network?

I think there will be testing to be done in the depot first before they venture out under their own power. They'd also need trained drivers etc. Much easier to just complete the move with a loco all the way.

Is there anyone going to Bootle etc. tonight to get pics and videos? I wish I could be there but I can't. If so I hope I can view them tomorrow

Just going through Weaver junction now.

I'll be in Bootle tomorrow afternoon, I guess they'll hide it in the depot shed though?
