Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
This thread is inspired by the unfortunate saga of GEX740F, one of three ultra-rare Leyland Atlantean single deckers new to Great Yarmouth. It was a regular on the preservation scene in the east of England for over 25 years in absolutely pristine condition. Sadly, the vehicle was purchased by a local "preservationist" in Yarmouth around a decade ago, who's left it to rot in a yard near Hopton-on-Sea. The owner will not sell, and spends most of his time on social media claiming it's the fault of others. It'll cost thousands in repair bills, assuming the bus even survives, which sadly isn't likely in its current location. :(

It got me thinking, are there any other relatively well-known preserved buses which have since disappeared, either for scrap or sold overseas?

I remember hearing the story of WFS300K, a lovely preserved Edin Corp Atlantean which mid nineties was in beautiful cosmetic order, only to end up just about derelict in Lancs after a stint back in service as a school bus. Not sure whether it was ever rescued as owner was another of those If I Can’t Have It Nobody Will types.

Near where the 3 ridings meet
What happened to the Single deck Scania Vabis at Sandtoft and may also have been at Southport.
Built about 1957 and used in Stockholm Sweden until the Driving on the Road changed to Driving on the right.
Was bought from North's at Sherburn in Elmet mid 70's following a failed Sale offer for use in UK.
It was too long for use at the time.

On the basis you're considering any circumstances then there have been a few lost to fires which have sadly been arson.

Rushden Transport Society lost their ex United Counties Bristol RE coach ORP273F in this way. Nottingham bus museum lost SCH117X South Notts Fleetline, LVR508W Bedford / Plaxton coach, STO523H 1970 NCT Atlantean, LNN89E 1967 Albion Lowlander and DAU370C 1965 NCT AEC Renown.
