Given my location I'd guess that the Glasgow or Edinburgh area is as close as I'm likely to get, unfortunately I'm unable to attend on 18/08

The next one will be in Oxford next Friday (23rd August) and after that the dates and venues are not yet decided; depends on how the Doodle goes. We will try to match the date and location to where/when the demand for them is
Sorry a lot of the recent proposed dates haven't worked out, but we do intend to hold more fares workshops during the winter months.
I have created two Doodles:
First to look at fares data: https://doodle.com/poll/kayfxrgfq45bufep ; if you can bring a laptop with SQL server installed, we may be able to assist you in obtaining a copy of the fares database and demonstrate how to query it. Depending on who signs up, we can either have sessions for people who are new to fares data and/or sessions for people who already have experience. If you are interested, please add your forum username to the Doodle, with your rough location in brackets
Secondly, we have more general fares workshops and within that we have two categories: a 'Standard' workshop is aimed at people who have not yet attended a workshop and/or not familiar with many of the principles; an 'Advanced' workshop is less structured and aimed at people who have been before and/or are already familiar with the principles. I've put both of these in one Doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/bh84ycu8r962tx9c . If you are interested, please add your forum username to the Doodle, with your rough location in brackets, along with an "S" for Standard or "A" for Advanced if you have a preference.
We will organise dates and venues when we have more people on the Doodle and can get an idea of what dates and venues would suit people

I'm super interested depending on where my roster falls with the dates you choose. On the travel note, have PRIV will travel.
Just Sussed out the maps and how use yellow pages in routing guide, learnt couple of new things, Blackpool, Preston and Liverpool can go via Sheffield and Midland Mainline as well as Manchester, if my reading of the maps is correct? maybe the wrong place to ask, but I would like to get more into fares and routing etc, so would like to come to fare workshop, can travel anywhere they are held, thanks

I think you may be reading the routing guide wrongly.
I guess that @cambsy means valid routes to London?
Possibly - hard to say without knowing the endpoints.
Could be. If so, it looks correct for Blackpool / Preston to London. Doesn't look right for Liverpool to London.

I don’t currently have access to the guide but I think I’m on safe ground suggesting that Liverpool to London via Chesterfield isn’t permitted.

I very much doubt that it would be.
From what I can work out, you can go Liverpool to London (anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong - these have all been parsed using the yellow pages and subsequently journey planners):

- via Oxford and Reading into Paddington (interestingly)

I'm looking to run a workshop in Birmingham during the afternoon this Saturday 25th January, though at this stage I am undecided as to what sort of workshop it will be. I have a couple of people so far; a good number is about 3 so we have one or perhaps two more places available. If anyone is up for this, please contact me.

Be interested if the dates on the Doodles listed could be extended out into April/May. Would be keen to sign up....
