Has this been confirmed, or just a rumour?
It was being looked at officially, but nothing further has been said on the subject in some time.

Should be in the training documentation - it is certainly in other Mark 3 training docs I've seen.A bit harsh perhaps, but it certainly doesn't appear as though they are aware of the ability to dim the lighting somehow.

Was the coach full of litter as well? Probably two year old GWR ones and nobody's bothered to clear them out going by my experience of some of the sets.I seen a Aberdeen HST service at Edinburgh , it had seat reservation tickets . I thought seat reservations were abolished?
Maybe they just need some light shinning on the subjectIn other words, staff should be aware of it

Part of me hopes this doesn't become a reality. Not because I think the current bike storage is sufficient (does anyone?) but not utilising ANY of the masses of space in the power cars seems mad. Why ScotRail don't even want to use it for end-to-end journeys is beyond me.It was being looked at officially, but nothing further has been said on the subject in some time.

Mostly. There are 10 refurbs done so far so likely to be say 7 or 8 refurbs and others classics in service.
Well we all know from this topic that the rate of progress so far has been glacial and the number of sets refurbed well below the original plan. But the difference would appear to be that in recent weeks Scotrail are managing to put out into service more of the sets they have, (and maybe even keep them in service through the day), so in that sense there is some encouragement as to the reliability of the service offered. This is quite few, as all 26 are supposed to be refurbished by June.

What were the reasons? Powercars or coaches?

Thought HST was ok on HML on one power car?
One would imagine, performance would be on par with East Coast 2+9 HSTs that are fully functioning then? And even they have at times simply struggled on with 1 power car.Yes, many pages back it was stated that a 2+4 on a single power car could hold linespeed up Slochd when a 170 couldn't even attain it.
Unless there was another issue as well?

The issue is Scotrail are a bit concerned with running stock that is known to be unreliable with one failsafe gone, and no easy means of rescue if it does fail, and it would then block up a no-doubt single track section of the HML. It's unfortunate, but clearly rational to never start off with just 1 PC.
There used to be some restrictions on LNER (and predecessors') HSTs with single functioning power cars working over the HML, but I can't seem to find them.
I'm not sure if they are allowed to leave depot on one engine, one would assume not as that would negate any advatange of having two seperate motive power sources.
Scotrail have put up an opportunity to win an ATP speedo: https://scotrail-fundraising.everydayhero.com/uk/win-a-hst-speedometerI think they were allowed up on one power car if they could be guaranteed a chain of greens all the way up the incline.

See attached extract from the Scotland sectional appendix which details the restrictions.
