Here we go again...
Here we go again...
Is this in reference to York Place being shut now? Here we go again...
http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/tramstonewhaven/Construction work on the project will commence in mid-November 2019 and continue through to late Summer 2022.
The knock on effect at the Waterloo Place/Leith St/Princes St/the Bridges junction from the diversions was horrendous on Wednesday. Pretty much everything was at least 20 minutes late - as always the drivers seemed to have angelic patience with it though. I take my hat off to them for that.Round two has started, Constitution Street is shut for tramworks.
I wonder how badly they're going to mess it up this time around.
Council are making Waterloo Place -> Princes Street a bus gate from Monday which should help. This is because of St James Centre works rather than the tram though. The knock on effect at the Waterloo Place/Leith St/Princes St/the Bridges junction from the diversions was horrendous on Wednesday. From what I’ve seen on the tracker it has pretty much been the same all week.
The people who messed it up last time have all moved on, indeed some of the team that replaced them and delivered the first phase are still involved.I wonder how badly they're going to mess it up this time around.

Round two has started, Constitution Street is shut for tramworks.

The height difference makes it difficult. But I think they could have got a stop a bit nearer if they'd put their minds to it.I'm always happy to see extensions to tram systems.
It still baffles me that there isn't a proper interchange to Waverley station though.
Fife’s a step too far. I’m up for any extensions in Edinburgh though.Edinburgh Council to 'explore potential' of linking tram to Fife and Lothians in future.
I think its a bit clickbaity but for those of you who are interested,

Edinburgh’s controversial tram network could be extended across the Firth of Forth to Fife in the future as the Capital’s transport chief insisted it’s “essential” to draw up a regional strategy.
Last week, Edinburgh City Council revealed its draft city mobility plan – a 10-year strategy setting out how people will move around the Capital in the context of an expected population rise and a commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Isn't "Fife" just meant to mean a big P&R at the north end of the bridge?Fife’s a step too far. I’m up for any extensions in Edinburgh though.
Indeed isn't the plan to send the tram over to the P&R via the old Forth Road Bridge. They've certainly put out many Artists Impressions over the years of this.Isn't "Fife" just meant to mean a big P&R at the north end of the bridge?

Oi, we're not crazy! We just love walking and keeping healthy! :-P
I didn't know any of the Forth bridges were walkable, makes a mental note to look into that for when I hopefully pop up in March...
There's a walkway on both sides although I have a recollection that sometimes only one side is open. It’s a long way down! Great view though (walkway is on the rail bridge side)
I was going to walk all the way across but it was getting late so I only made it half way over.
No need for rail. I think most people on this forum know there is the one and only Forth Bridge.Forth [Rail] Bridge too.

Neither did I!
They close a side depending on maintance work, there is a subway across. There is an easy parking lot on the south side just at the start. There's a walkway on both sides although I have a recollection that sometimes only one side is open.
I'm also sure I heard that NR were looking in the possibility of walking tours of the Forth [Rail] Bridge too.
Put a lift and escalator down to the scotland street tunnel and a translator into Waverley...The height difference makes it difficult. But I think they could have got a stop a bit nearer if they'd put their minds to it.
What I meant was, officially its not called the Forth Rail Bridge as it was opened as the Forth Bridge and was the only bridge in that part of the Forth from 1890 to the the 1960s.Depends if you're a bus enthusiast, or indeed as it turns out more than one of us might be, a walking enthusiast! We can be fussy over such detail
