Anyone know if 195s are going to be on the Blackpool (I think) - Colne?
195s on (some of) the York-Blackpools.That's a shame.. Just been on a 331 to Blackpool which was a nice trip...
Thanks

Blackpool South and Colne are never gonna see any decent units

Could all platforms east of Rose Grove cope with even a 2-car 195?
Burnley Barracks in particular is very short(?)
Regardless of the platform length im pretty sure the 195's are capable of having certain doors locked out of use when at platformsCould all platforms east of Rose Grove cope with even a 2-car 195?

They might see 195s later. I believe the idea of 2-car units was so they could be cascaded to the branches on further electrification being completed.
To be fair (and there's another thread for detailed discussion on that) I suspect Blackpool South is likely to see newish units, but they will look like this:
Modern Blackpool tram
...with Colne being operated as a Colne-Preston-Ormskirk-Preston-Colne circuit. That said, if Merseyrail ever goes to Preston...
Not sure how busy the Burnley to Colne stretch is, but the Preston-Blackburn-Accrington stretch has been very overcrowded whenever I've used this line. It's a good idea to break up the services, single units on Colne - Ormskirk services allowing doubles for Blackpool South without the waste of carrying around a locked out of use unit across Lancashire for a little used branch

Like Southport...

The Ormskirk line can handle 4 car sets, at least of Pacers (I don't know about 23m units).
195s going on Piccadilly-Rose Hill from March so I believe
I imagine getting rid of Pacers and overcrowding takes priority over aspirational stuff....But Northern Connect included several new links that appear to have no chance of happening (Bradford- Airport, Bradford- Nottingham, Bradford- Liverpool and Newcastle- Middlesbrough via Stillington). Maybe that have just had a rethink and given up on NC which in any case hasn't actually been launched yet
Is Northern Connect even a thing any more? The only place I hear about it is on here.
Do you know which services the Blackpool crews operate?195s going on Piccadilly-Rose Hill from March so I believe, so you just never know about Colne etc., although no Blackburn drivers are trained on 195s and Blackburn drivers work most of the Colnes these days.
There's still a page about it on Northern's website, but it hasn't been updated for ages. No doubt that's taking a chunk out of Arriva's revenue projections on top of everything else going on. It would be disappointing if the idea of any decent standard or marketing for Northern's longer distance services was permanently abandoned.
