I know that 68025 went back to Crewe for maintenance and I think 68021 took its place with TP04, though not working in passenger service. Similarly 68028 was paired with TP06 prior to moving over on to TP12.
TP04 has a broken windscreen on the DT vehicle which apparently hasn't been repaired.Since you mentioned it
Nova 3 sets: latest dates in traffic (as at 26.12.2019)
TP07 (68023) 24.12.2019
TP09 (68027) 24.12.2019
TP12 (68028) 23.12.2019
TP13 (68022) 22.12.2019
TP08 (68019) 22.12.2019
TP11 (68026) 05.12.2019
TP06 (68028) 28.11.2019
TP04 (68025) 28.10.2019
It seems that most of the sets rotate through being active but TP04 is the odd one out, with TP06 being the other away from the fray for quite some time.
Many thanks for that, greatly appreciated.TP04 has a broken windscreen on the DT vehicle which apparently hasn't been repaired.
Presumably the spare DT will be getting some miles in then?TP04 has a broken windscreen on the DT vehicle which apparently hasn't been repaired.
My observation is that Sunday tends to be the better day, wish you luck for next timeWhat the hell is going on? The next two Scarboroughs and the next Edinburgh from Lime Street are cancelled. Given up on Trans Pennine.
Doubtful, The broken windscreen happened 2 months ago so if they were going to use the spare then it would have gone on the set weeks ago.Presumably the spare DT will be getting some miles in then?
I don't think the spare had arrived 2 months ago... if it needs to do the FFR, it presumably needs to do them with a full set anyway. So at least to an outsider looking in it seems odd that it didn't take the place of the damaged vehicle once it was delivered.Doubtful, The broken windscreen happened 2 months ago so if they were going to use the spare then it would have gone on the set weeks ago.
I guess the spare DT will probably have to do some FFR before it’s used in service in any case.
Just had my first ride on the 11:00 Leeds- Man Vic.
Really impressed- rode in Coach A (DVT), plenty of leg room, comfortable, light, airy and the only issue was the PA but it’s early days for these sets.
was a weird feeling to feel or hear the roar from the engines in Morley or Stannadge tunnels. Suspect if I was in First I’d have heard the 68!
So if it's not going to be commissioned, what's the point of having a "spare?" Yet another excuse for not running specific trains that people have bought tickets to go on...I don't think the spare had arrived 2 months ago... if it needs to do the FFR, it presumably needs to do them with a full set anyway. Because it can be commissioned when it gets fastened onto the rest of a set, if it is needed.
And for now, you might as well keep commissioning the rest of the full trains. A working full train way more useful than a spare part.
so at what point is it worth commissioning your "spare" (which isn't really available, it seems?) A commissioned set is standing idle because the replacement DT can't be used!TP04 has a broken windscreen on the DT vehicle which apparently hasn't been repaired.
Somebody must have enjoyed allocating that!headed by 68022 "Resolution" which was rather appropriate for January the 1st!
the sound insulation doesn't extend to the fixtures and fittings, which rattle terribly, or to the bogies which are very noisy. There's only been one set I've travelled in with working WiFi and none with the automatic announcements/displays in full working order... my only disappointment was that the sound insulation on the coaches is so good that I could barely hear the 68 a few metres away!
I was on a Nova 3 yesterday which overshot the platform at Stalybridge leaving only the 68 reachable from the platform. Took the driver ages to get out , climb onto the platform and walk to the 68 to reverse the train into the station again.
I’m guessing it was towards Manchester, all the 68s face towards ScarboroughThey have to contact the signaller to check whether they're allowed to - it all depends on the station, how far the overshoot is, where the signals are etc.
You're also unable to walk from the Driving Cab to the 68 directly, so depending on in which direction the overshoot happened, they may have needed to wait for an all clear from the signaller. On some parts of the outskirts of the station there's no cess, so they would have had to walk directly in the four foot or six foot, thus exposing themselves to direct danger.
