Is there anywhere that SDO is used at a terminus?

not 100% sure on Alton but I would imagine procedure will be the same for turn back at Fratton and Portsmouth Harbour platform 1. Driver keeps their key on, door release by guard. ASDO operates as expected, driver keys off. Driver changes ends and keys on. If doors are closed and reopened (runner with a buggy etc) then ASDO should remember to only open the accommodated coaches however general instruction is local door only. In the event of an emergency switch off or unit reboot it’s local door only full stop.
That's correct. I'd not actually heard of the requirement for the driver not to take their key off before the doors are released though, it shouldn't make a difference really. 9-car 444/450 hybrids aren't permitted either, or they certainly weren't, and I don't recall reading anything to state that that's changed.

I don’t recall hearing anything about 9 cars not being allowed to turn short, I’ll have to speak to a manager or ops standards for clarification.

Can Braintree cope with 12 coach units?

I believe Southminster is 8 coach only and gets 12 coach sets in the peaks [with the rearmost unit locked out of use after Wickford]

Checked this this morning, the notice is still displayed, 9 cars not permitted Farnham to Alton or to turn back at Fratton because of ASDO issues.

But only SDO stock not but non SDO?
A very nuanced original question...

3-4 can only accept 10 cars, full stop.

Platform Lengths at Vic (SE Side) (Sectional Appendix Lengths)

1 - 13
2 - 14 (can actually fit 16)
3 - 8
4 - 8
5 - 12 (10 Networker)
6 - 12 (10 Networker)
7 - 13
8 - 10

SDO isn't used at Victoria (Eastern) Yellow Balises have appeared recently so I suspect that 700s will reappear at some point but they only run RLU's through Kent and I doubt that they will start sticking FLUs into 3 or 4.

Actually the Southminster branch is only 4 car in capacity, and the 18:41 ex-LST is a booked 4 car throughout. The Braintree branch only takes 8 car trains, the rear 4 locking out at Witham.

Braintree holds 12. Front 4 locked out Just before departure but usually after passengers have boarded and only locked between Braintree and White Notley. Rear 4 locked out Witham to Braintree inclusive.

Not a terminus but Bradford Interchange platforms 3 & 4 can only accommodate 5x 195 vehicles, and Asdo should work fine there.
Last year on a Sunday I travelled as a passenger on a 6-car rake from Manchester Victoria to Leeds but the guard and driver decided to lock out of use the back 3-car unit before leaving Manchester, and kept it locked out of use after changing ends at Bradford. They made a right pig's ear of it, as then at New Pudsey and Bramley they had to draw the leading unit a couple of car lengths past the end of the platforms to accommodate the rear unit, the Asdo knew where it was and would only allow the doors on the front vehicle of the rear unit to be released.
