Yes please. There are numerous other industries where intractable issues have been fixed in the longer term by imposing new conditions. Rail is well overdue for the same.
Doesn't work like that with train crew. Same as the ridiculous comments about TUPE being up for change after 90 days. Really isn't valid here.

Why should be any different for train crew than any other industry where new terms and conditions have been imposed?

They were imposed on junior doctors and ultimately accepted. Same in many other cases.

Simply because it is. We are not any other industry. As said, pointless repetition & this conversation will do nothing but go round & round in circles.

Sorry, but saying 'because it is' does not answer the question.

Because imposition is unnecessary. You negotiate a change to the T&Cs together with an appropriate compensation and then it is either accepted or rejected. It is called "collective bargaining".

Which has repeatedly failed on this issue. Therefore a different approach is needed.

Drivers going on strike??? Ha, don't make me laugh. Too many expensive houses and BMW's parked in station car parks for that to last more than a week. The more a person earns the greedier they get. Someone tell me where the average train driver with the skills they have will earn enough to make payments on their fancy cars.
You would be angry to learn drivers at some tocs get taxis free to work then regardless of distance from depot

It's very unclear to me why we're talking about the imposition of a deal that has been agreed by the relevant union. By definition an agreed deal isn't imposed on the parties that agreed to it!

This thread is locked. It may be reopened after a considerable pruning of the irrelevant off topic discussion.
