They've never been mainline standard!

Branch line, perhaps. Mainline, no.
Well OK to satisfy the pedantic ones I'll rephrase it.

...if they're kept to a standard such as to be able to run on Network Rail (be it mainline, branch line or anything else), as opposed to only on heritage lines, it's a bonus...

The Hope to Sheffield 2C summer Saturday walkers shuttle! Laying over in Earles Sidings:s
Would love that :) although I think it would have to go to edale as that’s also popular with walkers! There are some sidings at edale (not sure if they are usable or broken)

Platform 1, the charity at Huddersfield has been selected to receive a pacer carriage upon decommission.

I hope its a 144 centre.

There are only 10 mid-cars, and so far none with secure futures that involve running. I hope one goes to a heritage railway, but I can see how they'd be more useful as makeshift buildings due to having more entrances.

If the plan is to replace the current mk1 at Huddersfield, a driving car would be more suitable, as it only needs access from one side.

I'm sure you are right but the WYPTE heritage of the centres have always made me think fondly of them.
It would fit neatly for one to remain in West Yorkshire especially so close to Platform 2, still the scene of its usage.

The MS vehicles might be in less demand from heritage railways, so easier to get hold of for other uses. They'll need a fair bit more work to turn them into buildings though, both ends will need plating over rather than just the one.

Presumably there's a limit to how much you spend turning a Pacer vehicle into a building (and how much of the original is kept) before simply buying a Portakabin is the better option. Not so for the Platform 1/Men's Shed group at Huddersfield mind, as like you say the railway theming is more appropriate.

The Pacer withdrawals seem to be having a negative affect on services:-

Today, only four 142s were in service and the 10:35am Kirkby to Manchester Victoria was short formed with a single 150/2. Usually on a Saturday it is a 150 and 142.
There were quite a lot of cancellations today. Among them were:-
The 11:55 Manchester Vic to Wigan Wallgate (apparently due to 'more trains than usual undergoing repair').
The 18:00 Stalybridge to Manchester Vic.
The 18:26 Manchester Vic to Kirkby (apparently due to 'problems with lineside equipment').
The 20:10 Wigan Wallgate to Blackburn.

All of the Southport services that I saw were only two carriages and very full.

There's been quite a reduction in capacity since the pacers started to be withdrawn with some routes with many reports of passengers unable to board peak time services. Surprised this has been allowed as thought the franchise specified minimum capacity requirements. Hopefully once the 195s and 769s are in service things will improve

Just been past Gascoigne Wood on the train. Next to the line and visible as you go from Leeds to Selby in order are: 089 / 032 / 014 / 056 / 003 / 007 / 038. 028 is on its own a distance from the others at the eastern end of the complex. The others are in a row behind and can't be identified.

Now let's hear Andy Burnham moaning
about all the short forms and cancellations!
You scrap perfectly working trains and leave yourselves short of stock.
Well well, you couldnt dream this up!

Why do you consider my post a poem?
It wasnt meant to be amusing!
It is totally unfunny they way they
have allowed this to become an issue.
Andy Burnham would be the first to moan about the railways in his area, yet he was one of them digging at Pacers to score political points.
Look where it's got us!
It's a total disgrace!

Well Chris, I already mentioned before that my 80 year old mother is having problems boarding Class 15x units and the new units at certain stations, due to big platform gaps and big step ups. She has little problem boarding Pacers and thinks it is madness to withdraw them. Even I sometimes have problems owing to a previous back injury. There is the problem of overcrowding too. It looks like we'll be using the car more often in future.
Surely the remaining 142s would be better utilized on the Southport line rather than Rochdale to Clitheroe?

They would be better utilised if they could run on there own
