They've never been mainline standard! If any are kept to mainline standards
Branch line, perhaps. Mainline, no.

Well OK to satisfy the pedantic ones I'll rephrase it.They've never been mainline standard!

Would love that although I think it would have to go to edale as that’s also popular with walkers! There are some sidings at edale (not sure if they are usable or broken)The Hope to Sheffield 2C summer Saturday walkers shuttle! Laying over in Earles Sidings
Much as I love Pacers, in this instance there might be a clue in the company name, Locomotive Services Limited.
They specialise in locomotives, for tours or spot hire.
They do own a bubble car to be fair!
There are only 10 mid-cars, and so far none with secure futures that involve running. I hope one goes to a heritage railway, but I can see how they'd be more useful as makeshift buildings due to having more entrances.Platform 1, the charity at Huddersfield has been selected to receive a pacer carriage upon decommission.
I hope its a 144 centre.
If any are kept to mainline standards it will be a bonus, but at this stage we shouldn't count on it.
Possibly for warm storage as newton Heath is full. Any idea on the number?https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/83548/2020-01-25/detailed
Kinda off topic but why is a pacer going to Allerton Depot this late in its lifespan? Unless it's just for overnight stabling or something.
I only heard it go past my house near Earlestown station so I don't know.Possibly for warm storage as newton Heath is full. Any idea on the number?
@deltic14 said on another thread that 142004/142041/142043/142047/142058 were outside at newton Heath so was probably one of themI only heard it go past my house near Earlestown station so I don't know.

Thanks142041 was the unit.
The Pacer withdrawals seem to be having a negative affect on services:-
Today only four 142s were in service and the 10:35am Kirkby to Manchester Victoria was short formed with a single 150/2. Usually on a Saturday it is a 150 and 142.
There were quite a lot of cancellations today; the 11:55 Manchester Vic to Wigan Wallgate was cancelled (apparently due to 'more trains than usual undergoing maintenance').
The 18:00 Stalybridge to Manchester Vic was cancelled. The 18:26 Manchester Vic to Kirkby was cancelled (apparently due to 'problems with lineside equipment'). The 20:10 Wigan Wallgate to Blackburn was also cancelled.
All of the Southport services that I saw were only two carriages and very full.
Unless it’s been said, nobody knowsWill there be a heritage railway in the north of England taking a Pacer?
The third line of your poem doesn't scan. Now let's hear Andy Burnham moaning
about all the short forms and cancellations!
You scrap perfectly working trains and leave yourselves short of stock.
Well well, you couldnt dream this up!
Why do you consider my post a poem? The third line of your poem doesn't scan.
Why do you consider my post a poem?
It wasnt meant to be amusing!
It is totally unfunny they way they
have allowed this to become an issue.
Andy Burnham would be the first to moan about the railways in his area, yet he was one of them digging at Pacers to score political points.
Look where it's got us!
It's a total disgrace!
They would be better utilised if they could run on there ownWell Chris, I already mentioned before that my 80 year old mother is having problems boarding Class 15x units and the new units at certain stations, due to big platform gaps and big step ups. She has little problem boarding Pacers and thinks it is madness to withdraw them. Even I sometimes have problems owing to a previous back injury. There is the problem of overcrowding too. It looks like we'll be using the car more often in future.
Surely the remaining 142s would be better utilized on the Southport line rather than Rochdale to Clitheroe?
