Is London International CIV still a thing?

I see that Raileasy sell them on line in theory (drop down for origin/destination 'London International CIV') http://www.raileasy.co.uk/

Alas raileasy no longer seem to sell them. I last bought one a couple of weeks back for Newcastle-Kings Cross to connect to the Eurostar, but since they've changed their interface to automatically serve up their split ticketing approach they won't quote any fares to either London Eurostar (CIV) or London International (for Eurostar) either there, or on their 'classic' site which is now https://trainscanbecheaper.info. I've queried with them whether this was intentional (after all, they are showing the CIV options in their typeahead search) but no response yet.

Yes, they are still a thing. However it is getting much harder to obtain them. You may have to try a booking office.

Given the above you would appear to be right!

That's not quite right regarding the relationships between Raileasy and Trainsplit, which are seperate but interlinked companies - but it's late and I'll leave that to someone else to explain. However TrainsCanBeCheaper is the non-splitting sister booking site to Trainsplit.

Raileasy now seem to be redirecting raileasy.co.uk to their own 'white label' of Trainsplit at raileasy.trainsplit.com - whilst it's subtle, this is distinct from, though very similar to the non-white label site which is at plain old (no prefix) trainsplit.com - though it's the same if you give it the standard www prefix, i.e. www.trainsplit.com. (The raileasy version charges a £1 booking fee - the 'original' Trainsplit site does not.)

However for the moment you can still access the original raileasy booking site / user interface using the following URL:
mse.raileasy.co.uk

This is a special URL set up for users of the MoneySavingExpert website, and doesn't charge the £1 booking fee that the regular (old) raileasy.co.uk site used to.

And yes, it's all somewhat confusing!

I've been in contact with raileasy via email, who've stated they're going to try and re-add the ability to purchase CIV tickets when the site relaunches.

In that case you ring them and they tell you how you can get them :)
You can, for now, get Lndon Estar Civ tickets when booking a through journey from a supported National Rail Station on the Eurostar website, but the facility is being permanently withdrawn for travel after mid-March.

It does seem a shame that this product is (effectively) being withdrawn.
In the end I easily made my connection but as it was a normal advance ticket if I hadn't due to a Eurostar delay I would have had to have bought a whole new ticket.

Which product exactly is being withdrawn? Through bookings from UK via ES? Or LNE London International CIV flexible tickets? Makes a difference!

AFAIK UK TOCs will treat ES like a National Rail service and allow travel by a later train.

Through bookings from UK via Eurostar and LOE London Estar Civ flexible tickets are both being withdrawn.

London Intl CIV will remain available subject to the barrier of finding someone who will issue it.

Perhaps I've been lucky but all of Redcar Central, Middlesbrough and Darlington ticket offices have always been able to issue them. Occasionally needed a bit of encouragement (one looked very confused when offered an itinerary involving a walk from St Pancras to Kings Cross but went ahead when reassured this was correct) but they've always manged to issue them! Indeed Darlington have been so on the ball as to ask to see my Eurostar booking confirmation!!

I think often the case but only CIV entitles a 'right' as I understand it - would a RPI always permit it for example? Or some of the staff of some of the TOCs who feature in the disputes and prosecutions thread? (Merseyrail....)

Miseryrail doesn’t have train-specific tickets and is rather remote from Eurostar services :)

so you might need validity on the following day if your eurostar was so late as to miss your final connection to Southport...

I very much doubt people will be camping out overnight at Lime St to wait for the first morning service, they'll take a taxi and either take it on the chin or claim it off their travel insurance.

well, I'd probably stay with a mate in London and progress whole remaining jny next day. But the point is it's speculating what people may do.

CIV conferred actual 'rights' as explained by maninseat61 - this is a lot better than hoping TOC staff do the correct thing, which some, inevitably, will not.
